Muhammad b. al-Muntashir reported on the authority of his father: I asked 'Abdullah b. 'Umar (Allah be pleased with them) about a person who applied perfume and then (on the following) morning entered upon the state of lhram. Thereupon he said: I do not like to enter upon the state of Ihram shaking off the perfume. Rubbing of tar (upon my body) is dearer to me than doing this (i. e. the applying of perfume), I went to 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) and told her that Ibn 'Umar stated: I do not like to enter upon the state of Ihram shaking off the perfume. Rubbing of tar (upon my body) is dearer to me than doing it (the applying of perfume). Thereupon 'A'isha said: I applied perfume to the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) at the time of his entering upon the state of Ihram. He then went round his wives and then put on Ihram in the morning.

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ، جَمِيعًا عَنْ أَبِي عَوَانَةَ، قَالَ سَعِيدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْتَشِرِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا، عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَتَطَيَّبُ، ثُمَّ يُصْبِحُ مُحْرِمًا؟ فَقَالَ: مَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أُصْبِحَ مُحْرِمًا أَنْضَخُ طِيبًا، لَأَنْ أَطَّلِيَ بِقَطِرَانٍ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَفْعَلَ ذَلِكَ، فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا فَأَخْبَرْتُهَا، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ: مَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أُصْبِحَ مُحْرِمًا أَنْضَخُ طِيبًا، لَأَنْ أَطَّلِيَ بِقَطِرَانٍ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَفْعَلَ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: «أَنَا طَيَّبْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِنْدَ إِحْرَامِهِ، ثُمَّ طَافَ فِي نِسَائِهِ، ثُمَّ أَصْبَحَ مُحْرِمًا»

ابو عوانہ نے ابرا ہیم بن محمد بن منتشر سے انھوں نے اپنے والدسے روایت کی کہا میں نے عبد اللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے اس شکس کے بارے میں سوال کیا جو خوشبو لگا تا ہے پھر احرا م بندھ لیتا ہے انھوں نے جواب دیا مجھے یہ پسند نہیں کہ میں احرا م بندھوں ( اور ) مجھسے خوشبو پھوٹ رہی ہو یہ بات مجھے ایسا کرنے سے زیادہ پسند ہے کہ میں اپنے اوپر تار کو ل مل لوں ۔ پھر میں حجرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کی خدمت میں ھاضر ہوا اور انھیں بتا یا کہ ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے تو کہا ہے مجھے یہ پسند نہیں کہ میں محرم ہوں اور مجھ ( میرے جسم ) سے خوشبو پھوٹ رہی ہو ایسا کرنے سے زیادہ مجھے یہ زیادہ پسند ہے کہ میں اپنے اوپر تار کو ل مل لوں ۔ پھر حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور انھیں بتا یا کہ ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے تو کہا ہے مجھے یہ پسند نہیں کہ میں محرم ہوں اور مجھ ( میرے جسم ) سے خوشبو پھوٹ رہی ہو ایسا کرنے سے زیادہ مجھے یہ پسند ہے کہ میں اپنے جسم پر تار کو ل مل لوں تو حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے فر ما یا : میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو احرا م باند ھتے وقت خوشبو لگا ئی تھی پھر آپ نے اپنی تمام بیویوں کے ہاں چکر لگا یا پھر آپ نے احرا م کی نیت کر لی ( احرا م کا آغاز کر لیا یعنی خوشبو لگا نے سے تھوڑی دیر بعد احرا م باند ھ لیا )

A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: I used to apply perfume to the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ). He then went round his wives, and entered upon the state of Ihram in the morning and the perfume was shaken off.

Muhammad b. al-Muntashir reported on the authority of his father: I heard from Ibn 'Umar having said this: It is dearer to me to rub tar (on my body) than to enter upon the state of Ihram (in a state) of shaking off the perfume. He (the narrator) said: I went to 'A'isha and told her about this statement of his (of Ibn 'Umar). Thereupon she said: I applied perfume to the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) and he then went round his wives and then entered upon the state of Ihram in the morning.

Al-Sa'b b. Jaththama al-Laithi reported that he presented a wild ass to Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) when he was at al-Abwa', or Waddan, and he refused to accept it. He (the narrator) said: When the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) looked into my face (which had the mark of dejection as my present had been rejected by him) he (in order to console me) said: We have refused it only because we are in a state of Ihram.

A hadith (pertaining to this topic), has been narrated on the authority of Zuhri (and the words are): I presented to him (the Holy Prophet) a wild ass.

Ibn 'Abbas (Allah be pleased with them) reported that al-Sa'b b. Jaththama presented to the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) a wild ass as he was in a state of Ihram, and he returned it to him saying: If we were not in a state of Ihram, we would have accepted it from you.
