Abu Darda' (Allah be pleased with him) reported: We set out during the month of Ramadan with the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) in such an intense heat that one of us would place his hand over his head (in order to protect himself) against the excessive heat, and none among us was observing the fast, except the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) and 'Abdullah b. Rawaha.

حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ، عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: «خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ فِي حَرٍّ شَدِيدٍ، حَتَّى إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدُنَا لَيَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ مِنْ شِدَّةِ الْحَرِّ، وَمَا فِينَا صَائِمٌ، إِلَّا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَوَاحَةَ»

داود بن رشید ، ولید بن مسلم ، سعید بن عبدالعزیز ، اسماعیل ، عبیداللہ ، ام درداء ، حضرت ابو درداء رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ رمضان کے مہینے میں گرمی کے موسم میں ایک سفر میں نکلے یہاں تک کہ گرمی کی وجہ سے ہم میں سے کچھ لوگ اپنے ہاتھوں کو اپنے سر پر رکھ لیتے تھے اور ہم میں سے کوئی بھی روزہ دار نہیں تھا سوائے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اور حضرت عبداللہ بن رواحۃ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے ۔

Umm al-Fadl bint- al-Harith reported that some people argued about the fasting of the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) on the day of 'Arafa. Some of them said that he had been fasting, whereas the others said that he had not been fasting. I sent a cup of milk to him while he was riding his camel at 'Arafa, and he drank it.

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Abu Nadr with the same chain of transmitters, but he did not mention that he was mounting (riding on) his camel.

This hadith has been narrated by Abu Nadr on the authority of Umair, the freed slave of Umm al-Fadl, through the same chain of transmitters.

Umm al-Fadl (Allah be pleased with her) is reported to have said that some people among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) were in doubt about fasting on the day of 'Arafa and we were with him on that day. I (Umm al-Fadl) sent him a cup of milk and he was halting at 'Arafa, and he drank that.

Kuraib, the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas (Allah be pleased with him), reported from Maimuna, the wife of the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ), that people had doubt about the fasting of Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) on the day of 'Arafa. Maimuna sent him a cup of milk and he was halting at a place and he drank it and the people were seeing him.
