Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessing be upon him) observed: You shall not enter Paradise so long as you do not affirm belief (in all those things which are the articles of faith) and you will not believe as long as you do not love one another. Should I not direct you to a thing which, if you do, will foster love amongst you: (i. e.) give currency to (the practice of paying salutation to one another by saying) as-salamu alaikum.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، وَوَكِيعٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا تَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّى تُؤْمِنُوا، وَلَا تُؤْمِنُوا حَتَّى تَحَابُّوا، أَوَلَا أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى شَيْءٍ إِذَا فَعَلْتُمُوهُ تَحَابَبْتُمْ؟ أَفْشُوا السَّلَامَ بَيْنَكُمْ»

ابو معاویہ اور وکیع نے اعمش سے حدیث سنائی ، انہوں نے ابو صالح سے اور انہوں نے حضرت ابو ہریرہ ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ سے روایت کی ، انہوں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا : ’’ تم جنت میں داخل نہیں ہو گے یہاں تک کہ تم مومن ہو جاؤ ، اور تم مو من نہیں ہو سکتے یہاں تک کہ ایک دوسرے سے محبت کرو ۔ کیا تمہیں ایسی چیز نہ بتاؤں کہ جب تم اس پر عمل کرو تو ایک دوسرے کے ساتھ محبت کرنے لگو ، آپس میں سلام عام کرو ۔ ‘ ‘

Zuhair b. Harb said: Jarir reported on the authority of A'mash with this chain of transmitters that the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) observed: By him in Whose hand is my life, you shall not enter Paradise unless you believe. The rest of the hadith is the same as narrated by Abd Mu'awiya and Waki'.

It is narrated on the authority of Tamim ad-Dari that the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) observed: Al-Din is a name of sincerity and well wishing. Upon this we said: For whom? He replied: For Allah, His Book, His Messenger and for the leaders and the general Muslims.
