Translation

Abdullah is reported to have said: Keep refreshing your knowledge of the sacred books (or always renew your knowledge of these sacred books) and sometimes he would mention the Qur'an for it is more apt to escape from men's minds than animals which are hobbled, and the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: None of you should say: I forgot such and such a verse, but he has been made to forget.

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ح و حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ تَعَاهَدُوا هَذِهِ الْمَصَاحِفَ وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ الْقُرْآنَ فَلَهُوَ أَشَدُّ تَفَصِّيًا مِنْ صُدُورِ الرِّجَالِ مِنْ النَّعَمِ مِنْ عُقُلِهِ قَالَ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَقُلْ أَحَدُكُمْ نَسِيتُ آيَةَ كَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ بَلْ هُوَ نُسِّيَ

اعمش نے شفیق بن سلمہ سے روا یت کی انھوں نے کہا ۔ حضرت عبد اللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کہا ان مصاحف ۔ ۔ اور کبھی کہا : قرآن ۔ ۔ کے ساتھ تجدید عہد کرتے رہا کرو کیونکہ وہ انسانوں کے سینوں سے بھا گ جا نے میں اپنے پاؤں کی رسیوں سے نکل بھاگنے والے اونٹوں سے بھی بڑھ کر ہے کہا : اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فر ما یا ہے ۔ " تم میں سے کسی کو یہ نہیں کہنا چا ہیے کہ میں فلا ں فلا ں آیت بھول گیا ہوں بلکہ اسے بھلوا دیا گیا ہے ۔

Ibn Mas'ud reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: Wretched is the man who says: I forgot such and such a sura, or I forget such and such a verse, but he has been made to forget.

Abu Musa al-Ash'ari reported Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: Keep refreshing your knowledge of the Qur'an, for I swear by Him in Whose Hand is the life of Mahammad that it is more liable to escape than camels which are hobbled.

Abu Huraira reported this directly from the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ): God has not listened to anything as He listens to a Prophet reciting the Qur'an in a sweet voice.

This hadith has been narrated by Ibn Shihab with the same chain of transmitters with words: As He listens to a Prophet reciting the Qur'an in a sweet voice.

Abu Huraira is reported to have heard Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: Allah does not listen to anything, (more approvingly) as He listens to a Prophet reciting loudly the Qur'an in a sweet voice.

This hadith has been narrated with the same chain of transmitters by Ibn al-Had except this that Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying and he did not say: He heard it.
