The same hadith has been transmitted by another chain of narrators on the authority of 'Abdullah b. Mas'ud who observed: Never was there one among the prophets who had had not disciples who followed his direction and followed his ways. The remaining part of the hadith is like that as narrated by Salih but the arrival of Ibn Mas'ud and the meeting of Ibn 'Umar with him is not mentioned.
وَحَدَّثَنِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي الْحَارِثُ بْنُ الْفُضَيْلِ الْخَطْمِيُّ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ مَوْلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَا كَانَ مِنْ نَبِيٍّ إِلَّا وَقَدْ كَانَ لَهُ حَوَارِيُّونَ يَهْتَدُونَ بِهَدْيِهِ، وَيَسْتَنُّونَ بِسُنَّتِهِ» مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ صَالِحٍ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ قُدُومَ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَاجْتِمَاعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ مَعَهُ
  حارث بن فضیل خطمی سے ( صالح بن کیسان کے بجائے ) عبدالعزیز بن محمد کی سند کےساتھ رسول اللہ ﷺ کے مولیٰ ابو رافع سے روایت ہے ۔ انہوں نے حضرت عبد اللہ بن مسعود ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ سے روایت کی کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا : ’’ جو بھی نبی گزرا ہے اس کے ساتھ کچھ حواری تھے جو اس ( نبی ) کے نمونہ زندگی کو اپناتے اور اس کی سنت کی پیروی کرتے تھے .... ‘ ‘ صالح کی روایت کی طرح ۔ لیکن ( عبد العزیز نے ) عبداللہ بن مسعود ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ کی آمد اور عبد اللہ بن عمر ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ سے ان کی ملاقات کا ذکر نہیں کیا ۔

It is narrated on the authority of Ibn Mas'ud that the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) pointed towards Yemen with his hand and said: Verily Iman is towards this side, and harshness and callousness of the hearts is found amongst the rude owners of the camels who drive them behind their tails (to the direction) where emerge the two horns of Satan, they are the tribes of Rabi'a and Mudar.

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah observed: There have come the people of Yemen; they are tender of hearts, the belief is that of the Yemenites, the understanding (of the faith) is that of the Yemenites and sagacity is that of the Yemenites.
