Abdullah b. Abu Qatada reported on the authority of his father: While we said our prayer with the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) he heard tumult. (At the end of the prayer) he (the Holy Prophet) said: What is the matter with you? They said: We hastened to prayer. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Don't do that; when you come for prayer, there should be tranquillity upon you. Pray (along with the Imam) what you can find and complete what preceded you.

حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ الصُّورِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ، أَخْبَرَهُ، قَالَ: بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَسَمِعَ جَلَبَةً، فَقَالَ: «مَا شَأْنُكُمْ؟» قَالُوا: اسْتَعْجَلْنَا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ، قَالَ: «فَلَا تَفْعَلُوا، إِذَا أَتَيْتُمُ الصَّلَاةَ فَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ، فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا، وَمَا سَبَقَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا».

معاویہ بن سلام نے یحییٰ بن ابی کثیر سے روایت کی کہا : عبداللہ بن ابی قتادہ ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ نے مجھے خبر دی کہ ان کے والد نے انھیں بتایا ، کہا : ہم ( ایک بار ) جب رسو ل اللہ ﷺ کے ساتھ نماز پڑھ رہے تھے تو آپ نے ( جلدی چلنے ، دوڑ کر پہنچنے کی ) ملی جلی آواز یں سنیں ، آپ نے ( نماز کے بعد ) پوچھا : ’’تمھیں کیا ہوا ( تھا ؟ ) ‘ ‘ لوگوں نے جواب دیا ہم نے نماز کے لے جلید کی ۔ آپ نے فرمایا : ’’ایسے نہ کیا کرو ، جب تم نماز کے لیے آؤ تو سکون و اطمینان محلوظ رکھو ، ( نماز کاحصہ ) جو تمھیں مل جائے ، پڑھ لو ارو جو گز ر جائے اسے پورا کر لو ۔ ‘ ‘

Abu Qatada reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: When the Iqama is pronounced do not get up till you see me Ibn Hatim was in doubt whether it was said: When the Iqama is pronounced or When call is made .

Abu Salama son of Abd al-Rahman b. Auf reported Abu Huraira as saying: Iqama was pronounced and we stood up and made rows straight till he (the Holy Prophet) stood at his place of worship (the place ahead of the rows where he stood to lead the prayer) before takbir tahrima. He reminded to (himself something) and went back saying that we should stand at our places and not leave them. We waited, till he came back to us and he had taken a bath and water trickled out of his head and then led us in prayer.

Abu Salama reported Abu Huraira as saying: Iqama was pronounced. ant the people had formed themselves into rows. The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) came out and stood at his place, and then pointed out with his hand that we should stand at our places. He then went away and took a bath and water trickled from his head and then led them in prayer.

Abu Salama reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that when Iqama was pronounced for the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ), the people occupied their places in the rows before the Messenger of Allah (way peace be upon him) stood up at his place.
