Thauban reported: When the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) finished his prayer. He begged forgiveness three times and said: O Allah! Thou art Peace, and peace comes from Thee; Blessed art Thou, O Possessor of Glory and Honour. Walid reported: I said to Auza'i: How is the seeking of forgiveness? He replied: You should say: I beg forgiveness from Allah, I beg forgiveness from Allah.
حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ، عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ، اسْمُهُ شَدَّادُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، إِذَا انْصَرَفَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ اسْتَغْفَرَ ثَلَاثًا وَقَالَ: «اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ، تَبَارَكْتَ ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ» قَالَ الْوَلِيدُ: فَقُلْتُ لِلْأَوْزَاعِيِّ: كَيْفَ الْاسْتِغْفَارُ؟ قَالَ: تَقُولُ: أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ، أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ
  ولید نے اوزاعی سے ، انہوں نے ابو عمار ۔ ان کا نام شداد بن عبداللہ ہے ۔ سے ، انھوں نے ابو اسماء سے اور انھوں نے حضرت ثوبان ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ سے روایت کی کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ جب اپنی نماز سے فارغ ہوتے تو تین دفعہ استغفار کرتےاور اس کے بعد کہتے : اللہم انت السلام و منك السلام ، تباركت ذاالجلال والاكرام ’’ اے اللہ ! تو ہی سلام ہے اور سلامتی تیری ہی طرف سے ہے ، تو صاحب رفعت و برکت ہے ، اے جلال والے اور عزت بخشنے والے ! ‘ ‘ ولید نے کہا : میں نے اوزاعی سے پوچھا : استغفار کیسے کیا جائے ؟ انھوں نے کہا : استغفر اللہ ، استغفر اللہ کہے ۔

A'isha reported: When the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) pronounced salutation, he salutation longer than it took him to say: O Allah: Thou art Peace, and peace comes from Thee, blessed art Thou, Possessor of Glory and ]Honour; and in the narration of Ibn Numair the words are: O Possessor of Glory and Honour.

Mughira b. Shu'ba wrote to Mu'awiya: When the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) finished the prayer and pronounced salutation he uttered (this supplication): There is no god but Allah. He is alone, Who has no partner. To Him belongs the sovereignty and to Him praise is due and He is Potent over every. thing. O Allah! no one can withhold what Thou givest, or give what Thou withholdest, and the riches cannot avail a wealthy person with Thee.

A hadith like this has been narrated by Mughira b. Shu'ba with another chain of transmitters. Abu Bakr and Abu Kuraib narrated in their narration (that Warrad reported): Mughira gave me dictation of it and 1 wrote it to Mu'awiya.

Mughira): I heard the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) saying: When the salutation is pronounced. and the rest of the hadith is the same except this that he made no mention of: He is Potent over everything.
