Ibn Atiq reported: Al-Qasim was in the presence of 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) that I narrated a hadith and Qasim was a man who committed errors in (pronouncing words) and his mother was a freed slave-girl. 'A'isha said to him: What is the matter with you that you do not narrate as this son of my brother narrated (the ahaditb)? Well I know from where you picked it up. This is how his mother brought him up and how your mother brought you up. Qasim felt angry (on this remark of Hadrat 'A'isha) and showed bitterness towards her. When he saw that the table had been spread for 'A'isha, he stood up, 'A'isha, said: Where are you going? He said: (I am going) to say prayer. She said: Sit down (to take the food). He said: I must say prayer. She said: Sit down, ) faithless, for I have heard the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) say: No prayer can be (rightly said) when the food is there (before the worshipper), or when he is prompted by the call of nature.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمٌ هُوَ ابْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عَتِيقٍ، قَالَ: تَحَدَّثْتُ أَنَا وَالْقَاسِمُ، عِنْدَ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، حَدِيثًا وَكَانَ الْقَاسِمُ رَجُلًا لَحَّانَةً وَكَانَ لِأُمِّ وَلَدٍ، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ عَائِشَةُ: مَا لَكَ لَا تَحَدَّثُ كَمَا يَتَحَدَّثُ ابْنُ أَخِي هَذَا، أَمَا إِنِّي قَدْ عَلِمْتُ مِنْ أَيْنَ أُتِيتَ هَذَا أَدَّبَتْهُ أُمُّهُ، وَأَنْتَ أَدَّبَتْكَ أُمُّكَ، قَالَ: فَغَضِبَ الْقَاسِمُ وَأَضَبَّ عَلَيْهَا، فَلَمَّا رَأَى مَائِدَةَ عَائِشَةَ، قَدْ أُتِيَ بِهَا قَامَ، قَالَتْ: أَيْنَ؟ قَالَ: أُصَلِّي، قَالَتْ: اجْلِسْ، قَالَ: إِنِّي أُصَلِّي، قَالَتْ: اجْلِسْ غُدَرُ، إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَا صَلَاةَ بِحَضْرَةِ الطَّعَامِ، وَلَا هُوَ يُدَافِعُهُ الْأَخْبَثَانِ»

حاتم بن اسماعیل نے ( ابو حزرہ ) یعقوب بن مجاہد سے ، انھوں ابن ابی عتیق ( عبداللہ بن محمد بن عبدالرحمان بن ابی بکر صدیق ) سے روایت کی ، کہا : میں نے اور قاسم ( بن محمد بن ابی بکر صدیق ) نے حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے پاس ( بیٹھے ہوئے ) گفتگو کی ۔ قاسم زبان کی شدید غلطیاں کرنے والے انسان تھے ، وہ ایک کنیز کے بیٹے تھے ، حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالی عنہا نے اس سے کہا : کیا بات ہے تم میرے اس بھتیجے کی طرح کیوں گفتگو نہیں کرتے ؟ ہا ں ، میں جانتی ہوں ( تم میں ) یہ بات کہاں سے آئی ہے ، اس کو اس کی ماں نے ادب ( گفتگو کا طریقہ ) سکھایا اورتمھیں تمھاری ماں نے سکھایا ۔ اس پر قاسم ناراض ہو گئے اور ان کے خلاف دل میں غصہ کیا ، پھر جب انھوں نے حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کا دسترخوان آتے دیکھا تو اٹھ کھڑے ہوئے ۔ حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے پوچھا : کہاں جاتے ہو؟ انھوں نے کہا : میں نماز پڑھنے لگا ہوں ۔ عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے کہا : بیٹھ جاؤ ۔ انھوں نے کہا : میں نے نماز پڑھنی ہے ۔ حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے کہا : بیٹھ جاؤ ، دھوکےباز! میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا : ’’کھانا سامنے آجائے تو نماز نہیں ۔ اور نہ وہ ( شخص نماز پڑھے ) جس پر پیشاب پاخانہ کی ضرورت غالب آرہی ہو ۔ ‘ ‘

Abdullah b. 'Atiq narrated from the Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) on the authority of 'A'isha, but he made no mention of the account of Qasim.

Ibn 'Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said during the battle of Khaybar: He who ate of this plant, i. e. garlic, should not come to the mosques. In the narration of Zubair, there is only a mention of battle and not of Khaybar.

Ibn 'Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: He who eats of this (offensive) plant must not approach our mosque, till its odor dies: (plant signifies) garlic.

Ibn Suhaib reported: Anas was asked about the garlic; he stated that the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) had said: He who eats of this plant (garlic) should not approach us and pray along with us.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: He who eats of this plant (garlic) should not approach our mosque and should not harm us with the odour of garlic.

Jabir reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) forbade eating of onions and leek. When we were overpowered by a desire (to eat) we ate them. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) said: He who eats of this offensive plant must not approach our mosque, for the angels are harmed by the same things as men.
