Abu Huraira reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) saying: A highly wicked one amongst the Jinn escaped yesternight to interrupt my prayer, but Allah gave me power over him, so I seized him and intended to tie him to one of the pillars of the mosque in order that you, all together or all, might look at him, but I remembered the supplication of my brother Sulaiman: My Lord, forgive me, give me such a kingdom as will not be possible for anyone after me (Qur'an, xxxvii. 35).

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَا: أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ زِيَادٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنَّ عِفْرِيتًا مِنَ الْجِنِّ جَعَلَ يَفْتِكُ عَلَيَّ الْبَارِحَةَ، لِيَقْطَعَ عَلَيَّ الصَّلَاةَ، وَإِنَّ اللهَ أَمْكَنَنِي مِنْهُ فَذَعَتُّهُ، فَلَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَرْبِطَهُ إِلَى جَنْبِ سَارِيَةٍ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ، حَتَّى تُصْبِحُوا تَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْهِ أَجْمَعُونَ - أَوْ كُلُّكُمْ - ثُمَّ ذَكَرْتُ قَوْلَ أَخِي سُلَيْمَانَ: {رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَهَبْ لِي مُلْكًا لَا يَنْبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ مِنْ بَعْدِي} [ص: 35]، فَرَدَّهُ اللهُ خَاسِئًا وقَالَ ابْنُ مَنْصُورٍ: شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ. ح

اسحاق بن ابراہیم اور اسحاق بن منصور نے کہا : ہمیں نضر بن شمیل نے خبر دی ، انھوں نے کہا : ہمیں شعبہ نے خبر دی ، انھوں نے کہا : ہمیں شعبہ نے خبر دی ، انھوں نے کہا : ہمیں محمد نے ، جو ابن زیاد ہے ، حدیث سنائی ، انھوں نے کہا ، میں نے حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے سنا ، وہ کہہ رہے تھے : رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا : ‘ ‘ گزشتہ رات ایک سرکش جن مجھ پر حملے کرنے لگا تا کہ میری نماز توڑ دے ۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے اسے میرے قابو میں کر دیا تو میں نے زور سے اس کا گلا گھونٹا اور یہ ارادہ کیا کہ اسے مسجد کے ستونوں میں سے کسی ستون کے ساتھ باندھ دوں تاکہ صبح کو تم سب دیکھ سکو ، پھر مجھے اپنے بھائی سلیمان علیہ السلام کا یہ قول یاد آگیا : ‘ ‘ اے میرے رب! مجھے بخش دے اور مجھے ایسی حکومت دے جو میرے بعد کسی کے لائق نہ ہو ’’ ( تو میں نے اسے چھوڑ دیا ) اور اللہ نے اس ( جن ) کو رسوا کر کے لوٹا دیا ۔ ’’ ابن منصور نے کہا : شعبہ نے محمد بن زیاد سے روایت کی ۔

Abu Darda' reported: Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) stood up (to pray) and we heard him say: I seek refuge in Allah from thee. Then said: curse thee with Allah's curse three times, then he stretched out his hand as though he was taking hold of something. When he finished the prayer, we said: Messenger of Allah, we heard you say something during the prayer which we have not heard you say before, and we saw you stretch out your hand. He replied: Allah's enemy Iblis came with a flame of fire to put it in my face, so I said three times: I Seek refuge in Allah from thee. Then I said three times: I curse thee with Allah's full curse. But he did not retreat (on any one of these) three occasions. Thereafter I meant to seize him. I swear by Allah that had it not been for the supplication of my brother Sulaiman he would have been bound, and made an object of sport for the children of Medina.

Abu Qatadi reported: I saw the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) saying the prayer while he was carrying Umama, daughter of Zainab, daughter of the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ). and Abu'l-'As b. al-Rabi'. When he stood up, he took her up and when he prostrated he put her down, Yahya said: Malik replied in the affirmative.

Abu Qatada al-Ansari reported: I saw the Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) leading the people in prayer with Umima, daughter of Abu'l-'As and Zainab, daughter of the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ), on his shoulder. When he bowed, he put her down, and when he got up after prostration, he lifted her again.

Abu Qatada reported: I saw the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) leading the people in prayer with Umama daughter of Abu'l-'As on his neck; and when he prostrated he put her down.

Abu Qatada reported: As we were sitting in the mosque, the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) came to us, and the rest of the hadith is the same except that he made no mention that he led people in this prayer.
