Narrated `Aisha: The Prophet had a mat which he used to spread during the day and use as a curtain at night. So a number of people gathered at night facing it and prayed behind him.
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنْ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ لَهُ حَصِيرٌ يَبْسُطُهُ بِالنَّهَارِ وَيَحْتَجِرُهُ بِاللَّيْلِ فَثَابَ إِلَيْهِ نَاسٌ فَصَلَّوْا وَرَاءَهُ .
ہم سے ابراہیم بن المنذر نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے محمد بن اسماعیل بن ابی فدیک نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے محمد بن عبدالرحمٰن بن ابی ذئب نے بیان کیا، مقبری کے واسطہ سے، انہوں نے ابوسلمہ بن عبدالرحمٰن سے، انہوں نے عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے کہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس ایک چٹائی تھی۔ جسے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم دن میں بچھاتے تھے اور رات میں اس کا پردہ کر لیتے تھے۔ پھر چند لوگ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس کھڑے ہوئے یا آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی طرف جھکے اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پیچھے نماز پڑھنے لگے۔

Narrated Zaid bin Thabit: Allah's Apostle made a small room in the month of Ramadan (Sa`id said, I think that Zaid bin Thabit said that it was made of a mat ) and he prayed there for a few nights, and so some of his companions prayed behind him. When he came to know about it, he kept on sitting. In the morning, he went out to them and said, I have seen and understood what you did. You should pray in your houses, for the best prayer of a person is that which he prays in his house except the compulsory prayers.

Narrated Anas bin Malik Al-Ansari: Allah's Apostle rode a horse and fell down and the right side of his body was injured. On that day he prayed one of the prayers sitting and we also prayed behind him sitting. When the Prophet finished the prayer with Taslim, he said, The Imam is to be followed and if he prays standing then pray standing, and bow when he bows, and raise your heads when he raises his head; prostrate when he prostrates; and if he says Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah , you should say, Rabbana wa laka l-hamd.:

When he completed the prayer he said, The Imam is to be followed; if he says Takbir then say Takbir, bow if he bows; raise your heads when he raises his head, when he says, 'Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah say, 'Rabbana laka l-hamd', and prostrate when he prostrates.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, The Imam is to be followed. Say the Takbir when he says it; bow if he bows; if he says 'Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah', say, ' Rabbana wa laka l-hamd', prostrate if he prostrates and pray sitting altogether if he prays sitting.

Narrated Salim bin `Abdullah: My father said, Allah's Apostle used to raise both his hands up to the level of his shoulders when opening the prayer; and on saying the Takbir for bowing. And on raising his head from bowing he used to do the same and then say Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa laka l-hamd. And he did not do that (i.e. raising his hands) in prostrations.

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: I saw that whenever Allah's Apostle stood for the prayer, he used to raise both his hands up to the shoulders, and used to do the same on saying the Takbir for bowing and on raising his head from it and used to say, Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah . But he did not do that (i.e. raising his hands) in prostrations.
