Narrated `Aisha: The hand of a thief was not cut off during the lifetime of the Prophet except for stealing something equal to a shield in value.

حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ أَنَّ يَدَ السَّارِقِ لَمْ تُقْطَعْ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِلَّا فِي ثَمَنِ مِجَنٍّ حَجَفَةٍ أَوْ تُرْسٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ : مِثْلَهُ .

ہم سے عثمان بن ابی شیبہ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے عبدہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے ہشام نے، ان سے ان کے والد نے بیان کیا اور انہیں عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے خبر دی کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے زمانہ میں چور کا ہاتھ بغیر لکڑی کے چمڑے کی ڈھال یا عام ڈھال کی چوری پر ہی کاٹا جاتا تھا۔ ہم سے عثمان نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے حمید بن عبدالرحمٰن نے بیان کیا، ان سے ہشام نے بیان کیا، ان سے ان کے والد نے، ان سے عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے اسی طرح ( بیان کیا ) ۔
