Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, There were two women with whom there were their two sons. A wolf came and took away the son of one of them. That lady said to her companion, 'The wolf has taken your son.' The other said, 'But it has taken your son.' So both of them sought the judgment of (the Prophet) David who judged that the boy should be given to the older lady. Then both of them went to (the Prophet) Solomon, son of David and informed him of the case. Solomon said, 'Give me a knife so that I may cut the child into two portions and give one half to each of you.' The younger lady said, 'Do not do so; may Allah bless you ! He is her child.' On that, he gave the child to the younger lady. Abu Huraira added: By Allah! I had never heard the word 'Sakkin' as meaning knife, except on that day, for we used to call it Mudya .

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : كَانَتْ امْرَأَتَانِ مَعَهُمَا ابْنَاهُمَا جَاءَ الذِّئْبُ فَذَهَبَ بِابْنِ إِحْدَاهُمَا ، فَقَالَتْ لِصَاحِبَتِهَا : إِنَّمَا ذَهَبَ بِابْنِكِ ، وَقَالَتِ الْأُخْرَى إِنَّمَا ذَهَبَ بِابْنِكِ ، فَتَحَاكَمَتَا إِلَى دَاوُدَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام ، فَقَضَى بِهِ لِلْكُبْرَى ، فَخَرَجَتَا عَلَى سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَام فَأَخْبَرَتَاهُ ، فَقَالَ : ائْتُونِي بِالسِّكِّينِ أَشُقُّهُ بَيْنَهُمَا ، فَقَالَتِ الصُّغْرَى : لَا تَفْعَلْ يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ هُوَ ابْنُهَا ، فَقَضَى بِهِ لِلصُّغْرَى قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : وَاللَّهِ إِنْ سَمِعْتُ بِالسِّكِّينِ قَطُّ إِلَّا يَوْمَئِذٍ وَمَا كُنَّا نَقُولُ إِلَّا الْمُدْيَةَ .

ہم سے ابوالیمان نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو شعیب نے خبر دی، کہا کہ ہم سے ابوالزناد نے بیان کیا، ان سے عبدالرحمٰن نے اور ان سے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”دو عورتیں تھیں اور ان کے ساتھ ان کے دو بچے بھی تھے، پھر بھیڑیا آیا اور ایک بچے کو اٹھا کر لے گیا اس نے اپنی ساتھی عورت سے کہا کہ بھیڑیا تیرے بچے کو لے گیا ہے، دوسری عورت نے کہا کہ وہ تو تیرا بچہ لے گیا ہے۔ وہ دونوں عورتیں اپنا مقدمہ داؤد علیہ السلام کے پاس لائیں تو آپ نے فیصلہ بڑی کے حق میں کر دیا۔ وہ دونوں نکل کر سلیمان بن داؤد علیہما السلام کے پاس گئیں اور انہیں واقعہ کی اطلاع دی۔ سلیمان علیہ السلام نے کہا کہ چھری لاؤ میں لڑکے کے دو ٹکڑے کر کے دونوں کو ایک ایک دوں گا۔ اس پر چھوٹی عورت بول اٹھی کہ ایسا نہ کیجئے آپ پر اللہ رحم کرے، یہ بڑی ہی کا لڑکا ہے لیکن آپ علیہ السلام نے فیصلہ چھوٹی عورت کے حق میں کیا۔ ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ واللہ! میں نے «سكين» چھری کا لفظ سب سے پہلی مرتبہ ( نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی زبان سے ) اس دن سنا تھا اور ہم اس کے لیے ( اپنے قبیلہ میں ) «مدية‏.‏» کا لفظ بولتے تھے۔

Narrated `Aisha: Allah's Apostle once entered upon me in a very happy mood, with his features glittering with joy, and said, O `Aisha! won't you see that Mujazziz (a Qa'if) looked just now at Zaid bin Haritha and Usama bin Zaid and said, 'These feet (of Usama and his father) belong to each other. (See Hadith No. 755, Vol. 4)

Narrated `Aisha: Once Allah's Apostle entered upon me and he was in a very happy mood and said, O `Aisha: Don't you know that Mujazziz Al-Mudliji entered and saw Usama and Zaid with a velvet covering on them and their heads were covered while their feet were uncovered. He said, 'These feet belong to each other.'

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, When an adulterer commits illegal sexual intercourse, then he is not a believer at the time he is doing it; and when somebody drinks an alcoholic drink, then he is not believer at the time of drinking, and when a thief steals, he is not a believer at the time when he is stealing; and when a robber robs and the people look at him, then he is not a believer at the time of doing it. Abu Huraira in another narration, narrated the same from the Prophet with the exclusion of robbery.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet beat a drunk with palm-leaf stalks and shoes. And Abu Bakr gave (such a sinner) forty lashes.

Narrated `Uqba bin Al-Harith: An-Nu`man or the son of An-Nu`man was brought to the Prophet on a charge of drunkenness. So the Prophet ordered all the men present in the house, to beat him. So all of them beat him, and I was also one of them who beat him with shoes.

Narrated' `Uqba bin Al-Harith: An-Nu`man or the son of An-Nu`man was brought to the Prophet in a state of intoxication. The Prophet felt it hard (was angry) and ordered all those who were present in the house, to beat him. And they beat him, using palm-leaf stalks and shoes, and I was among those who beat him.
