Narrated Al-Aswad: Aisha said, I bought Barira and her masters stipulated that the Wala would be for them. Aisha mentioned that to the Prophet and he said, Manumit her, as the Wala is for the one who gives the silver (i.e. pays the price for freeing the slave). Aisha added, So I manumitted her. After that, the Prophet caller her (Barira) and gave her the choice to go back to her husband or not. She said, If he gave me so much and so much (money) I would not stay with him. So she selected her ownself (i.e. refused to go back to her husband).

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : اشْتَرَيْتُ بَرِيرَةَ ، فَاشْتَرَطَ أَهْلُهَا وَلَاءَهَا ، فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : أَعْتِقِيهَا فَإِنَّ الْوَلَاءَ لِمَنْ أَعْطَى الْوَرِقَ ، قَالَتْ : فَأَعْتَقْتُهَا ، قَالَتْ : فَدَعَاهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَخَيَّرَهَا مِنْ زَوْجِهَا ، فَقَالَتْ : لَوْ أَعْطَانِي كَذَا وَكَذَا مَا بِتُّ عِنْدَهُ ، فَاخْتَارَتْ نَفْسَهَا ، قَالَ : وَكَانَ زَوْجُهَا حُرًّا .

ہم سے محمد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو جریر نے خبر دی، انہیں منصور نے، انہیں ابراہیم نے، انہیں اسود نے اور ان سے عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے بیان کیا کہ میں نے بریرہ کو خریدنا چاہا تو ان کے مالکوں نے شرط لگائی کہ ولاء ان کے ساتھ قائم ہو گی۔ میں نے اس کا تذکرہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کیا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ انہیں آزاد کر دو، ولاء قیمت ادا کرنے والے ہی کے ساتھ قائم ہوتی ہے۔ بیان کیا کہ پھر میں نے آزاد کر دیا۔ پھر انہیں نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بلایا اور ان کے شوہر کے معاملہ میں اختیار دیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اگر مجھے یہ یہ چیزیں بھی وہ دیدے تو میں اس کے ساتھ رات گزارنے کے لیے تیار نہیں۔ چنانچہ اس نے شوہر سے علیحدگی کو پسند کیا۔

Narrated Ibn `Umar: When Aisha intended to buy Barira, she said to the Prophet, Barira's masters stipulated that they will have the Wala. The Prophet said (to Aisha), Buy her, as the Wala is for the one who manumits.
