Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, When anyone of you go to bed, he should shake out his bed with the inside of his waist sheet, for he does not know what has come on to it after him, and then he should say: 'Bismika Rabbi Wada`tu Janbi wa bika arfa'uhu, In amsakta nafsi farhamha wa in arsaltaha fahfazha bima tahfazu bihi ibadakas-salihin.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِذَا أَوَى أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ فَلْيَنْفُضْ فِرَاشَهُ بِدَاخِلَةِ إِزَارِهِ ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي مَا خَلَفَهُ عَلَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : بِاسْمِكَ رَبِّ وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي وَبِكَ أَرْفَعُهُ ، إِنْ أَمْسَكْتَ نَفْسِي فَارْحَمْهَا ، وَإِنْ أَرْسَلْتَهَا فَاحْفَظْهَا بِمَا تَحْفَظُ بِهِ عِبَادَكَ الصَّالِحِينَ ، تَابَعَهُ أَبُو ضَمْرَةَ ، وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّاءَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَقَالَ يَحْيَى ، وَبِشْرٌ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَرَوَاهُ مَالِكٌ ، وَابْنُ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .

ہم سے احمد بن یونس نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے زہیر نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے عبیداللہ بن عمر نے بیان کیا، کہا مجھ سے سعید بن ابی سعید مقبری نے بیان کیا، ان سے ان کے باپ نے اور ان سے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”جب تم میں سے کوئی شخص بستر پر لیٹے تو پہلے اپنا بستر اپنے ازار کے کنارے سے جھاڑ لے کیونکہ وہ نہیں جانتا کہ اس کی بےخبری میں کیا چیز اس پر آ گئی ہے پھر یہ دعا پڑھے «باسمك رب وضعت جنبي،‏‏‏‏ وبك أرفعه،‏‏‏‏ إن أمسكت نفسي فارحمها،‏‏‏‏ وإن أرسلتها فاحفظها بما تحفظ به الصالحين‏ ‏‏.‏» ”میرے پالنے والے! تیرے نام سے میں نے اپنا پہلو رکھا ہے اور تیرے ہی نام سے اٹھاؤں گا اگر تو نے میری جان کو روک لیا تو اس پر رحم کرنا اور اگر چھوڑ دیا ( زندگی باقی رکھی ) تو اس کی اس طرح حفاظت کرنا جس طرح تو صالحین کی حفاظت کرتا ہے۔“ اس کی روایت ابوضمرہ اور اسماعیل بن زکریا نے عبیداللہ کے حوالے سے کی اور یحییٰ اور بشر نے بیان کیا، ان سے عبیداللہ نے، ان سے سعید نے، ان سے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے اور ان سے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اور اس کی روایت امام مالک اور ابن عجلان نے کی ہے۔ ان سے سعید نے، ان سے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اس طرح روایت کی ہے۔

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, When it is the last third of the night, our Lord, the Blessed, the Superior, descends every night to the heaven of the world and says, 'Is there anyone who invokes Me (demand anything from Me), that I may respond to his invocation; Is there anyone who asks Me for something that I may give (it to) him; Is there anyone who asks My forgiveness that I may forgive him?'

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Whenever the Prophet went to the lavatory, he used to say: Allahumma Inni a`udhu bika minalkhubthi Wal khaba'ith.

Narrated Shaddad bin 'Aus: The Prophet said, The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah is: 'Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa anta. Khalaqtani wa ana `Abduka, wa ana 'ala 'ahdika wa Wa'dika mastata'tu abu'u Laka bi ni 'matika wa abu'u Laka bidhanbi; faghfirli fa'innahu la yaghfiru-dh-dhunuba ill a ant a. A'uidhu bika min sharri ma sana'tu.' If somebody recites this invocation during the night, and if he should die then, he will go to Paradise (or he will be from the people of Paradise). And if he recites it in the morning, and if he should die on the same day, he will have the same fate.

Narrated Hudhaifa: Whenever the Prophet intended to go to bed, he would recite: Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya (With Your name, O Allah, I die and I live). And when he woke up from his sleep, he would say: Al-hamdu lil-lahil-ladhi ahyana ba'da ma amatana; wa ilaihi an-nushur (All the Praises are for Allah Who has made us alive after He made us die (sleep) and unto Him is the Resurrection).

Narrated Abu Dhar: Whenever the Prophet lay on his bed, he used to say: Allahumma bismika amutu wa ahya, and when he woke up he would say: Al-hamdu lil-lahilladhi ahyana ba'da ma an atana, wa ilaihi an-nushur.

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr: Abu Bakr As-Siddiq said to the Prophet, Teach me an invocation with which I may invoke (Allah) in my prayer. The Prophet said, Say: Allahumma inni zalamtu nafsi zulman kathiran wala yaghfirudhdhunuba illa anta, Faghfirli maghfiratan min indika war-hamni, innaka antalGhafur-Rahim.
