Narrated Sa`id bin Al-Musaiyab: That when his grandfather, Hazn visited the Prophet the Prophet said (to him), What is your name? He said, My name is Hazn. The Prophet said, But you are Sahl. He said, I will not change my name with which my father named me. Ibn Al-Musaiyab added: So we have had roughness (in character) ever since.
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَهُمْ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : جَلَسْتُ إِلَى سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، فَحَدَّثَنِي أَنَّ جَدَّهُ حَزْنًا قَدِمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : مَا اسْمُكَ ؟ قَالَ : اسْمِي حَزْنٌ . قَالَ : بَلْ أَنْتَ سَهْلٌ . قَالَ : مَا أَنَا بِمُغَيِّرٍ اسْمًا سَمَّانِيهِ أَبِي . قَالَ ابْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ : فَمَا زَالَتْ فِينَا الْحُزُونَةُ بَعْدُ .
ہم سے ابراہیم بن موسیٰ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے ہشام بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، انہیں ابن جریج نے خبر دی، کہا مجھ کو عبدالحمید بن جبیر بن شیبہ نے خبر دی، کہا کہ   میں سعید بن مسیب کے پاس بیٹھا ہوا تھا تو انہوں نے مجھ سے بیان کیا کہ ان کے دادا حزن نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دریافت فرمایا کہ تمہارا نام کیا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ میرا نام حزن ہے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ تم سہل ہو، انہوں نے کہا کہ میں تو اپنے باپ کا رکھا ہوا نام نہیں بدلوں گا۔ سعید بن مسیب نے کہا اس کے بعد سے اب تک ہمارے خاندان میں سختی اور مصیبت ہی رہی۔ «حزونة» سے صعوبت مراد ہے۔

Narrated Isma`il: I asked Abi `Aufa, Did you see Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet ? He said, Yes, but he died in his early childhood. Had there been a Prophet after Muhammad then his son would have lived, but there is no Prophet after him.
