Narrated Anas bin Malik: Abu Talha had the largest number of datepalms from amongst the Ansars of Medina. The dearest of his property to him was Bairuha garden which was facing the (Prophet's) Mosque. Allah's Apostle used to enter it and drink of its good fresh water. When the Holy Verse:-- 'By no means shall you attain righteousness unless you spend (in charity) of that which you love.' (3.92) was revealed, Abu Talha got up and said, O Allah's Apostle! Allah says: By no means shall you attain righteousness unless you spend of that which you love,' and the dearest of my property to me is the Bairuha garden and I want to give it in charity in Allah's Cause, seeking to be rewarded by Allah for that. So you can spend it, O Allah's Apostle, where-ever Allah instructs you. ' Allah s Apostle said, Good! That is a perishable (or profitable) wealth (`Abdullah is in doubt as to which word was used.) He said, I have heard what you have said but in my opinion you'd better give it to your kith and kin. On that Abu Talha said, I will do so, O Allah's Apostle! Abu Talha distributed that garden among his kith and kin and cousins.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : كَانَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ أَكْثَرَ أَنْصَارِيٍّ بِالْمَدِينَةِ مَالًا مِنْ نَخْلٍ ، وَكَانَ أَحَبُّ مَالِهِ إِلَيْهِ بَيْرُحَاءَ ، وَكَانَتْ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْمَسْجِدِ ، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْخُلُهَا وَيَشْرَبُ مِنْ مَاءٍ فِيهَا طَيِّبٍ ، قَالَ أَنَسٌ : فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ لَنْ تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّى تُنْفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ سورة آل عمران آية 92 . قَامَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَقُولُ : لَنْ تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّى تُنْفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ سورة آل عمران آية 92 وَإِنَّ أَحَبَّ مَالِي إِلَيَّ بَيْرُحَاءَ ، وَإِنَّهَا صَدَقَةٌ لِلَّهِ أَرْجُو بِرَّهَا وَذُخْرَهَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ ، فَضَعْهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ حَيْثُ أَرَاكَ اللَّهُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : بَخٍ ذَلِكَ مَالٌ رَابِحٌ أَوْ رَايِحٌ ، شَكَّ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ مَا قُلْتَ ، وَإِنِّي أَرَى أَنْ تَجْعَلَهَا فِي الْأَقْرَبِينَ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ : أَفْعَلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ : فَقَسَمَهَا أَبُو طَلْحَةَ فِي أَقَارِبِهِ ، وَفِي بَنِي عَمِّهِ ، وَقَالَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى : رَايِحٌ .

ہم سے عبداللہ بن مسلمہ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے امام مالک نے، ان سے اسحاق بن عبداللہ نے، انہوں نے انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا، انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ ابوطلحہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس مدینہ کے تمام انصار میں سب سے زیادہ کھجور کے باغات تھے اور ان کا سب سے پسندیدہ مال بیرحاء کا باغ تھا۔ یہ مسجد نبوی کے سامنے ہی تھا اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم وہاں تشریف لے جاتے تھے اور اس کا عمدہ پانی پیتے تھے۔ انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ پھر جب آیت «لن تنالوا البر حتى تنفقوا مما تحبون‏» ”تم ہرگز نیکی نہیں پاؤ گے جب تک وہ مال نہ خرچ کرو جو تمہیں عزیز ہو۔“ نازل ہوئی تو ابوطلحہ رضی اللہ عنہ کھڑے ہوئے اور عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے «لن تنالوا البر حتى تنفقوا مما تحبون‏» ”تم ہرگز نیکی کو نہیں پاؤ گے جب تک وہ مال نہ خرچ کرو جو تمہیں عزیز ہو۔“ اور مجھے اپنے مال میں سب سے زیادہ عزیز بیرحاء کا باغ ہے اور وہ اللہ تعالیٰ کے راستہ میں صدقہ ہے، اس کا ثواب اور اجر میں اللہ کے یہاں پانے کی امید رکھتا ہوں، اس لیے یا رسول اللہ! آپ جہاں اسے مناسب خیال فرمائیں خرچ کریں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ خوب یہ بہت ہی فائدہ بخش مال ہے یا ( اس کے بجائے آپ نے ) «رايح» ( یاء کے ساتھ فرمایا ) ۔ راوی حدیث عبداللہ کو اس میں شک تھا ( نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے مزید فرمایا کہ ) جو کچھ تو نے کہا ہے میں نے سن لیا میرا خیال ہے کہ تم اسے اپنے رشتہ داروں کو دے دو۔ ابوطلحہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کیا کہ ایسا ہی کروں گا یا رسول اللہ! چنانچہ انہوں نے اپنے رشتہ داروں اپنے چچا کے لڑکوں میں اسے تقسیم کر دیا۔ اور اسماعیل اور یحییٰ بن یحییٰ نے «رايح‏.‏» کا لفظ نقل کیا ہے۔

Narrated Anas bin Malik: I saw Allah's Apostle drinking milk. He came to my house and I milked a sheep and then mixed the milk with water from the well for Allah's Apostle. He took the bowl and drank while on his left there was sitting Abu Bakr, and on his right there was a bedouin. He then gave the remaining milk to the bedouin and said, The right! The right (first).

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah: Allah's Apostle and one of his companions entered upon an Ansari man and the Prophet said to him, If you have water kept overnight in a water skin, (give us), otherwise we will drink water by putting our mouth in it. The man was watering his garden then. He said, O Allah's Apostle! I have water kept overnight; let us go to the shade. So he took them both there and poured water into a bowl and milked a domestic goat of his in it. Allah's Apostle drank, and then the man who had come along with him, drank.

Narrated An-Nazzal: Ali came to the gate of the courtyard (of the Mosque) and drank (water) while he was standing and said, Some people dislike to drink while standing, but I saw the Prophet doing (drinking water) as you have seen me doing now.

Narrated An-Nazzal bin Sabra: `Ali offered the Zuhr prayer and then sat down in the wide courtyard (of the Mosque) of Kufa in order to deal with the affairs of the people till the `Asr prayer became due. Then water was brought to him and he drank of it, washed his face, hands, head and feet. Then he stood up and drank the remaining water while he was standing. and said, Some people dislike to drink water while standing thought the Prophet did as I have just done.
