Narrated Anas: I know (about) the Hijab (the order of veiling of women) more than anybody else. Ubai bin Ka`b used to ask me about it. Allah's Apostle became the bridegroom of Zainab bint Jahsh whom he married at Medina. After the sun had risen high in the sky, the Prophet invited the people to a meal. Allah's Apostle remained sitting and some people remained sitting with him after the other guests had left. Then Allah's Apostle got up and went away, and I too, followed him till he reached the door of `Aisha's room. Then he thought that the people must have left the place by then, so he returned and I also returned with him. Behold, the people were still sitting at their places. So he went back again for the second time, and I went along with him too. When we reached the door of `Aisha's room, he returned and I also returned with him to see that the people had left. Thereupon the Prophet hung a curtain between me and him and the Verse regarding the order for (veiling of women) Hijab was revealed.

حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَنَّ أَنَسًا ، قَالَ : أَنَا أَعْلَمُ النَّاسِ بِالْحِجَابِ كَانَ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ يَسْأَلُنِي عَنْهُ ، أَصْبَحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَرُوسًا بِزَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ وَكَانَ تَزَوَّجَهَا بِالْمَدِينَةِ ، فَدَعَا النَّاسَ لِلطَّعَامِ بَعْدَ ارْتِفَاعِ النَّهَارِ ، فَجَلَسَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَجَلَسَ مَعَهُ رِجَالٌ بَعْدَ مَا قَامَ الْقَوْمُ حَتَّى قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَمَشَى وَمَشَيْتُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى بَلَغَ بَابَ حُجْرَةِ عَائِشَةَ ثُمَّ ظَنَّ أَنَّهُمْ خَرَجُوا ، فَرَجَعْتُ مَعَهُ فَإِذَا هُمْ جُلُوسٌ مَكَانَهُمْ ، فَرَجَعَ وَرَجَعْتُ مَعَهُ الثَّانِيَةَ حَتَّى بَلَغَ بَابَ حُجْرَةِ عَائِشَةَ فَرَجَعَ وَرَجَعْتُ مَعَهُ فَإِذَا هُمْ قَدْ قَامُوا ، فَضَرَبَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ سِتْرًا وَأُنْزِلَ الْحِجَابُ .

مجھ سے عبداللہ بن محمد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے یعقوب بن ابراہیم نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ مجھ سے میرے والد نے بیان کیا، ان سے صالح نے، ان سے ابن شہاب نے اور ان سے انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ میں پردہ کے حکم کے بارے میں زیادہ جانتا ہوں۔ ابی بن کعب رضی اللہ عنہ بھی مجھ سے اس کے بارے میں پوچھا کرتے تھے۔ زینب بنت جحش رضی اللہ عنہا سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی شادی کا موقع تھا۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے نکاح مدینہ منورہ میں کیا تھا۔ دن چڑھنے کے بعد نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے لوگوں کی کھانے کی دعوت کی تھی۔ آپ بیٹھے ہوئے تھے اور آپ کے ساتھ بعض اور صحابہ بھی بیٹھے ہوئے تھے۔ اس وقت تک دوسرے لوگ ( کھانے سے فارغ ہو کر ) جا چکے تھے۔ آخر آپ بھی کھڑے ہو گئے اور چلتے رہے۔ میں بھی آپ کے ساتھ چلتا رہا۔ آپ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے حجرے پر پہنچے پھر آپ نے خیال کیا کہ وہ لوگ ( بھی جو کھانے کے بعد گھر بیٹھے رہ گئے تھے ) جا چکے ہوں گے ( اس لیے آپ واپس تشریف لائے ) میں بھی آپ کے ساتھ واپس آیا لیکن وہ لوگ اب بھی اسی جگہ بیٹھے ہوئے تھے۔ آپ پھر واپس آ گئے۔ میں بھی آپ کے ساتھ دوبارہ واپس آیا۔ آپ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے حجرہ پر پہنچے پھر آپ وہاں سے واپس ہوئے۔ میں بھی آپ کے ساتھ تھا۔ اب وہ لوگ جا چکے تھے۔ اس کے بعد نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے اور میرے درمیان پردہ لٹکایا اور پردہ کی آیت نازل ہوئی۔

Narrated Abu Musa: A son was born to me and I took him to the Prophet who named him Ibrahim, did Tahnik for him with a date, invoked Allah to bless him and returned him to me. (The narrator added: That was Abu Musa's eldest son.)

Narrated `Aisha: A boy was brought to the Prophet to do Tahnik for him, but the boy urinated on him, whereupon the Prophet had water poured on the place of urine.

Narrated Asma' bint Abu Bakr: I conceived `Abdullah bin AzZubair at Mecca and went out (of Mecca) while I was about to give birth. I came to Medina and encamped at Quba', and gave birth at Quba'. Then I brought the child to Allah's Apostle and placed it (on his lap). He asked for a date, chewed it, and put his saliva in the mouth of the child. So the first thing to enter its stomach was the saliva of Allah's Apostle. Then he did its Tahnik with a date, and invoked Allah to bless him. It was the first child born in the Islamic era, therefore they (Muslims) were very happy with its birth, for it had been said to them that the Jews had bewitched them, and so they would not produce any offspring.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Abu Talha had a child who was sick. Once, while Abu Talha was out, the child died. When Abu Talha returned home, he asked, How does my son fare? Um Salaim (his wife) replied, He is quieter than he has ever been. Then she brought supper for him and he took his supper and slept with her. When he had finished, she said (to him), Bury the child (as he's dead). Next morning Abu Talha came to Allah's Apostle and told him about that. The Prophet said (to him), Did you sleep with your wife last night? Abu Talha said, Yes . The Prophet said, O Allah! Bestow your blessing on them as regards that night of theirs. Um Sulaim gave birth to a boy. Abu Talha told me to take care of the child till it was taken to the Prophet. Then Abu Talha took the child to the Prophet and Um Sulaim sent some dates along with the child. The Prophet took the child (on his lap) and asked if there was something with him. The people replied, Yes, a few dates. The Prophet took a date, chewed it, took some of it out of his mouth, put it into the child's mouth and did Tahnik for him with that, and named him 'Abdullah.

Narrated Salman bin 'Amri Ad-Dabbi, the Prophet (saws) said, 'Aqiqa is to be offered for a (newly born) boy.

Narrated Salman bin 'Amir Ad-Dabbi: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, 'Aqiqa is to be offered for a (newly born) boy, so slaughter (an animal) for him, and relieve him of his suffering.
