Narrated Ibn `Umar: Allah's Apostle forbade Ash-Shighar, which means that somebody marries his daughter to somebody else, and the latter marries his daughter to the former without paying Mahr.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ الشِّغَارِ ، وَالشِّغَارُ : أَنْ يُزَوِّجَ الرَّجُلُ ابْنَتَهُ عَلَى أَنْ يُزَوِّجَهُ الْآخَرُ ابْنَتَهُ لَيْسَ بَيْنَهُمَا صَدَاقٌ .

ہم سے عبداللہ بن یوسف تنیسی نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم کو امام مالک رحمہ اللہ نے خبر دی، انہیں نافع نے اور انہیں عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے شغار سے منع فرمایا ہے۔ شغار یہ ہے کہ کوئی شخص اپنی لڑکی یا بہن کا نکاح اس شرط کے ساتھ کرے کہ وہ دوسرا شخص اپنی ( بیٹی یا بہن ) اس کو بیاہ دے اور کچھ مہر نہ ٹھہرے۔

Narrated Hisham's father: Khaula bint Hakim was one of those ladies who presented themselves to the Prophet for marriage. `Aisha said, Doesn't a lady feel ashamed for presenting herself to a man? But when the Verse: (O Muhammad) You may postpone (the turn of) any of them (your wives) that you please,' (33.51) was revealed, `Aisha said, 'O Allah's Apostle! I do not see, but, that your Lord hurries in pleasing you.'
