Narrated Ibn `Abbas: When the Verse:-- 'And warn your tribe of near kindred.' (26.214) was revealed. Allah's Messenger went out, and when he had ascended As-Safa mountain, he shouted, O Sabahah! The people said, Who is that? Then they gathered around him, whereupon he said, Do you see? If I inform you that cavalrymen are proceeding up the side of this mountain, will you believe me? They said, We have never heard you telling a lie. Then he said, I am a plain warner to you of a coming severe punishment. Abu Lahab said, May you perish! You gathered us only for this reason? Then Abu Lahab went away. So the Surat:--ul--LAHAB 'Perish the hands of Abu Lahab!' (111.1) was revealed.

حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الأَقْرَبِينَ سورة الشعراء آية 214 ، وَرَهْطَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى صَعِدَ الصَّفَا فَهَتَفَ يَا صَبَاحَاهْ ، فَقَالُوا : مَنْ هَذَا ؟ فَاجْتَمَعُوا إِلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ : أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ أَنَّ خَيْلًا تَخْرُجُ مِنْ سَفْحِ هَذَا الْجَبَلِ ، أَكُنْتُمْ مُصَدِّقِيَّ ؟ قَالُوا : مَا جَرَّبْنَا عَلَيْكَ كَذِبًا ، قَالَ : فَإِنِّي نَذِيرٌ لَكُمْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ ، قَالَ أَبُو لَهَبٍ : تَبًّا لَكَ مَا جَمَعْتَنَا إِلَّا لِهَذَا ، ثُمَّ قَامَ ، فَنَزَلَتْ تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ سورة المسد آية 1 ، وَقَدْ تَبَّ هَكَذَا قَرَأَهَا الْأَعْمَشُ يَوْمَئِذٍ .

ہم سے یوسف بن موسیٰ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے ابواسامہ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے اعمش نے بیان کیا، ان سے عمرو بن مرہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے سعید بن جبیر نے اور ان سے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ جب یہ آیت نازل ہوئی «وأنذر عشيرتك الأقربين‏» ”آپ اپنے قریبی رشتہ داروں کو ڈرایئے اور اپنے گروہ کے ان لوگوں کو ڈرائیے جو مخلصین ہیں۔“ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم صفا پہاڑی پر چڑھ گئے اور پکارا: یاصباحاہ! قریش نے کہا یہ کون ہے، پھر وہاں سب آ کر جمع ہو گئے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے فرمایا کہ تمہارا کیا خیال ہے، اگر میں تمہیں بتاؤں کہ ایک لشکر اس پہاڑ کے پیچھے سے آنے والا ہے، تو کیا تم مجھ کو سچا نہیں سمجھو گے؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہمیں جھوٹ کا آپ سے تجربہ کبھی بھی نہیں ہے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ پھر میں تمہیں اس سخت عذاب سے ڈراتا ہوں جو تمہارے سامنے آ رہا ہے۔ یہ سن کر ابولہب بولا، تو تباہ ہو، کیا تو نے ہمیں اسی لیے جمع کیا تھا؟ پھر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم وہاں سے چلے آئے اور آپ پر یہ سورت نازل ہوئی «تبت يدا أبي لهب وتب‏» الخ یعنی ”دونوں ہاتھ ٹوٹ گئے ابولہب کے اور وہ برباد ہو گیا۔“ اعمش نے یوں پڑھا «وقد تب» جس دن یہ حدیث روایت کی۔

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet went out towards Al-Batha' and ascended the mountain and shouted, O Sabahah! So the Quraish people gathered around him. He said, Do you see? If I tell you that an enemy is going to attack you in the morning or in the evening, will you believe me? They replied, Yes. He said, Then I am a plain warner to you of a coming severe punishment. Abu Lahab said, Is it for this reason that you have gathered us? May you perish ! Then Allah revealed: 'Perish the hands of Abu Lahab!'

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Abu Lahab said, May you perish! Is it' for this that you have gathered us? So there was revealed:-- 'Parish the hands of Abu Lahab'.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, Allah said: 'The son of Adam tells a lie against Me,, though he hasn't the right to do so. He abuses me though he hasn't the right to do so. As for his telling a lie against Me, it is his saying that I will not recreate him as I created him for the first time. In fact, the first creation was not easier for Me than new creation. As for his abusing Me, it is his saying that Allah has begotten children, while I am the One, the Self-Sufficient Master Whom all creatures need, I beget not, nor was I begotten, and there is none like unto Me.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, Allah said:-- 'The son of Adam tells a lie against Me and he hasn't the right to do so; and he abuses me and he hasn't the right to do so. His telling a lie against Me is his saying that I will not recreate him as I created him for the first time; and his abusing Me is his saying that Allah has begotten children, while I am the self-sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, Who begets not nor was He begotten, and there is none like unto Me.

Narrated Zirr bin Hubaish: I asked Ubai bin Ka`b regarding the two Muwwidhat (Surats of taking refuge with Allah). He said, I asked the Prophet about them, He said, 'These two Surats have been recited to me and I have recited them (and are present in the Qur'an).' So, we say as Allah's Messenger said (i.e., they are part of the Qur'an.

Narrated Zirr bin Hubaish: I asked Ubai bin Ka`b, O Abu AlMundhir! Your brother, Ibn Mas`ud said so-and-so (i.e., the two Mu'awwidh-at do not belong to the Qur'an). Ubai said, I asked Allah's Messenger about them, and he said, 'They have been revealed to me, and I have recited them (as a part of the Qur'an), So Ubai added, So we say as Allah's Messenger has said.
