قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شِهَابٍ : فَأَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ فَتْرَةِ الْوَحْيِ ، قَالَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : بَيْنَا أَنَا أَمْشِي سَمِعْتُ صَوْتًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَرَفَعْتُ بَصَرِي ، فَإِذَا الْمَلَكُ الَّذِي جَاءَنِي بِحِرَاءٍ جَالِسٌ عَلَى كُرْسِيٍّ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ فَفَرِقْتُ مِنْهُ ، فَرَجَعْتُ ، فَقُلْتُ : زَمِّلُونِي زَمِّلُونِي ، فَدَثَّرُوهُ ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى يَأَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُ { 1 } قُمْ فَأَنْذِرْ { 2 } وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ { 3 } وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ { 4 } وَالرُّجْزَ فَاهْجُرْ { 5 } سورة المدثر آية 1-5 ، قَالَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ : وَهِيَ الْأَوْثَانُ الَّتِي كَانَ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَعْبُدُونَ ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ تَتَابَعَ الْوَحْيُ .

محمد بن شہاب نے بیان کیا، انہیں ابوسلمہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے خبر دی اور ان سے جابر بن عبداللہ انصاری رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم وحی کے کچھ دنوں کے لیے رک جانے کا ذکر فرما رہے تھے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ میں چل رہا تھا کہ میں نے اچانک آسمان کی طرف سے ایک آواز سنی۔ میں نے نظر اٹھا کر دیکھا تو وہی فرشتہ ( جبرائیل علیہ السلام ) جو میرے پاس غار حرا میں آیا تھا، آسمان اور زمین کے درمیان کرسی پر بیٹھا ہوا نظر آیا۔ میں ان سے بہت ڈرا اور گھر واپس آ کر میں نے کہا کہ مجھے چادر اڑھا دو چنانچہ گھر والوں نے مجھے چادر اڑھا دی، پھر اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ آیت نازل کی «يا أيها المدثر * قم فأنذر * وربك فكبر * وثيابك فطهر * والرجز فاهجر‏» ”اے کپڑے میں لپٹنے والے! اٹھئیے پھر لوگوں کو ڈرایئے اور اپنے پروردگار کی بڑائی بیان کیجئے اور اپنے کپڑوں کو پاک رکھیئے۔“ ابوسلمہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ «الرجز» جاہلیت کے بت تھے جن کی وہ پرستش کیا کرتے تھے۔ راوی نے بیان کیا کہ پھر وحی برابر آنے لگی۔

Narrated Aisha: The commencement of the Divine Inspiration to Allah's Messenger was in the form of true dreams. The Angel came to him and said, Read, in the Name of your Lord Who has created (all that exists), has created man a clot. Read! And your Lord is Most Generous ..(96.1,2,3)

Narrated `Aisha: The commencement of (the Divine Inspirations to) Allah's Messenger was in the form of true dreams. The Angel came to him and said, Read! In the Name of your Lord Who has created all exists), has created man from a clot. Read! And your Lord is Most Generous, Who has taught (the writing) by the pen (the first person to write was Prophet Idris. (96.1-4)

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said to Ubai (bin Ka`b). Allah has ordered me to recite to you:--'Those who disbelieve among the people of the Scripture and among the idolators are not going to stop (from their disbelief.') (Sura 98) Ubai said, Did Allah mention me by name? The Prophet said, Yes. On that, Ubai wept.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said to Ubai, Allah has ordered me recite Qur'an to you. Ubai asked, Did Allah mention me by name to you? The Prophet said, Allah has mentioned your name to me. On that Ubai started weeping. (The sub-narrator) Qatada added: I have been informed that the Prophet recited: 'Those who disbelieve among the people of the Scripture, ...to Ubai.
