Narrated Masruq: I said to `Aisha, O Mother! Did Prophet Muhammad see his Lord? Aisha said, What you have said makes my hair stand on end ! Know that if somebody tells you one of the following three things, he is a liar: Whoever tells you that Muhammad saw his Lord, is a liar. Then Aisha recited the Verse: 'No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision. He is the Most Courteous Well-Acquainted with all things.' (6.103) 'It is not fitting for a human being that Allah should speak to him except by inspiration or from behind a veil.' (42.51) `Aisha further said, And whoever tells you that the Prophet knows what is going to happen tomorrow, is a liar. She then recited: 'No soul can know what it will earn tomorrow.' (31.34) She added: And whoever tell you that he concealed (some of Allah's orders), is a liar. Then she recited: 'O Apostle! Proclaim (the Message) which has been sent down to you from your Lord..' (5.67) `Aisha added. But the Prophet saw Gabriel in his true form twice.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا : يَا أُمَّتَاهْ ، هَلْ رَأَى مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَبَّهُ ؟ فَقَالَتْ : لَقَدْ قَفَّ شَعَرِي مِمَّا قُلْتَ أَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنْ ثَلَاثٍ مَنْ حَدَّثَكَهُنَّ ، فَقَدْ كَذَبَ مَنْ حَدَّثَكَ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى رَبَّهُ فَقَدْ كَذَبَ ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَتْ : لا تُدْرِكُهُ الأَبْصَارُ وَهُوَ يُدْرِكُ الأَبْصَارَ وَهُوَ اللَّطِيفُ الْخَبِيرُ سورة الأنعام آية 103 وَمَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَنْ يُكَلِّمَهُ اللَّهُ إِلا وَحْيًا أَوْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ حِجَابٍ سورة الشورى آية 51 ، وَمَنْ حَدَّثَكَ أَنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي غَدٍ فَقَدْ كَذَبَ ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَتْ وَمَا تَدْرِي نَفْسٌ مَاذَا تَكْسِبُ غَدًا سورة لقمان آية 34 ، وَمَنْ حَدَّثَكَ أَنَّهُ كَتَمَ فَقَدْ كَذَبَ ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَتْ يَأَيُّهَا الرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ مَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ سورة المائدة آية 67 الْآيَةَ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ رَأَى جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام فِي صُورَتِهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ .

ہم سے یحییٰ بن موسیٰ نے بیان کیا، ان سے وکیع نے، ان سے اسمٰعیل بن ابی خالد نے، ان سے عامر نے اور ان سے مسروق نے بیان کیا کہ میں نے عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے پوچھا: اے ایمان والوں کی ماں! کیا محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے معراج کی رات میں اپنے رب کو دیکھا تھا؟ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا تم نے ایسی بات کہی کہ میرے رونگٹے کھڑے ہو گئے کیا تم ان تین باتوں سے بھی ناواقف ہو؟ جو شخص بھی تم میں سے یہ تین باتیں بیان کرے وہ جھوٹا ہے جو شخص یہ کہتا ہو کہ محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے شب معراج میں اپنے رب کو دیکھا تھا وہ جھوٹا ہے۔ پھر انہوں نے آیت «لا تدركه الأبصار وهو يدرك الأبصار وهو اللطيف الخبير‏» سے لے کر «من وراء حجاب‏» تک کی تلاوت کی اور کہا کہ کسی انسان کے لیے ممکن نہیں کہ اللہ سے بات کرے سوا اس کے کہ وحی کے ذریعہ ہو یا پھر پردے کے پیچھے سے ہو اور جو شخص تم سے کہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم آنے والے کل کی بات جانتے تھے وہ بھی جھوٹا ہے۔ اس کے لیے انہوں نے آیت «وما تدري نفس ماذا تكسب غدا‏» یعنی ”اور کوئی شخص نہیں جانتا کہ کل کیا کرے گا۔“ کی تلاوت فرمائی۔ اور جو شخص تم میں سے کہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے تبلیغ دین میں کوئی بات چھپائی تھی وہ بھی جھوٹا ہے۔ پھر انہوں نے یہ آیت تلاوت کی «يا أيها الرسول بلغ ما أنزل إليك من ربك‏» یعنی اے رسول! پہنچا دیجئیے وہ سب کچھ جو آپ کے رب کی طرف سے آپ پر اتارا گیا ہے۔ ہاں نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے جبرائیل علیہ السلام کو ان کی اصل صورت میں دو مرتبہ دیکھا تھا۔

Narrated `Abdullah: Regarding the Verses: 'And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer; So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave (Gabriel) and then he Gabriel) conveyed (that to Muhammad...' (53.9-10) Ibn Mas`ud narrated to us that the Prophet had seen Gabriel with six hundred wings.

Narrated Ash-Shaibani: I asked Zirr about the Statement of Allah: 'And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer. So did Allah convey the Inspiration to His slave (Gabriel) and then he (Gabriel) conveyed that to Muhammad.' (53.10) He said, Abdullah (bin Mas`ud) informed us that Muhammad had seen Gabriel with six hundred wings.

Narrated `Abdullah: (regarding the revelation) Truly he (Muhammad) did see of the signs of his Lord; the Greatest!' (53.18) The Prophet saw a green screen covering the horizon.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, Whomever takes an oath in which he mentions Lat and `Uzza (forgetfully), should say: None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and whoever says to his companion. 'Come along, let us gamble must give alms (as an expiation).

Narrated `Urwa: I asked `Aisha (regarding the Sai between As Safa and Al-Marwa). She said, Out of reverence to the idol Manat which was placed in Al-Mushailal, those who used to assume Ihram in its name, used not to perform Sai between As-Safa and Al-Marwa, so Allah revealed: 'Verily! The As-Safa and Al-Marwa (two mountains at Mecca) are among the symbols of Allah.' (2.158). Thereupon, Allah's Messenger and the Muslims used to perform Sai (between them). Sufyan said: The (idol) Manat was at Al-Mushailal in Qudaid. `Aisha added, The Verse was revealed in connection with the Ansar. They and (the tribe of) Ghassan used to assume lhram in the name of Manat before they embraced Islam. `Aisha added, There were men from the Ansar who used to assume lhram in the name of Manat which was an idol between Mecca and Medina. They said, O Allah's Messenger ! We used not to perform the Tawaf (Sai) between As-Safa and Al-Marwa out of reverence to Manat.
