Narrated `Urwa: Az-Zubair quarrelled with a man from the Ansar because of a natural mountainous stream at Al-Harra. The Prophet said O Zubair! Irrigate (your lands and the let the water flow to your neighbor The Ansar said, O Allah's Messenger (This is because) he (Zubair) is your cousin? At that, the Prophet's face became red (with anger) and he said O Zubair! Irrigate (your land) and then withhold the water till it fills the land up to the walls and then let it flow to your neighbor. So the Prophet enabled Az- Zubair to take his full right after the Ansari provoked his anger. The Prophet had previously given a order that was in favor of both of them Az-Zubair said, I don't think but the Verse was revealed in this connection: But no, by your Lord, they can have no faith, until they make you judge in all disputes between them. (4.6)

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، قَالَ : خَاصَمَ الزُّبَيْرُ رَجُلًا مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ فِي شَرِيجٍ مِنْ الْحَرَّةِ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : اسْقِ يَا زُبَيْرُ ، ثُمَّ أَرْسِلِ الْمَاءَ إِلَى جَارِكَ ، فَقَالَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَنْ كَانَ ابْنَ عَمَّتِكَ ، فَتَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : اسْقِ يَا زُبَيْرُ ، ثُمَّ احْبِسْ الْمَاءَ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَى الْجَدْرِ ، ثُمَّ أَرْسِلِ الْمَاءَ إِلَى جَارِكَ ، وَاسْتَوْعَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلزُّبَيْرِ حَقَّهُ فِي صَرِيحِ الْحُكْمِ حِينَ أَحْفَظَهُ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ، كَانَ أَشَارَ عَلَيْهِمَا بِأَمْرٍ لَهُمَا فِيهِ سَعَةٌ ، قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ : فَمَا أَحْسِبُ هَذِهِ الْآيَاتِ إِلَّا نَزَلَتْ فِي ذَلِكَ فَلا وَرَبِّكَ لا يُؤْمِنُونَ حَتَّى يُحَكِّمُوكَ فِيمَا شَجَرَ بَيْنَهُمْ سورة النساء آية 65 .

ہم سے علی بن عبداللہ مدینی نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے محمد بن جعفر نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو معمر نے خبر دی، انہیں زہری نے اور ان سے عروہ بن زبیر نے بیان کیا کہ زبیر رضی اللہ عنہ کا ایک انصاری صحابی سے مقام حرہ کی ایک نالی کے بارے میں جھگڑا ہو گیا ( کہ اس سے کون اپنے باغ کو پہلے سینچنے کا حق رکھتا ہے ) نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ زبیر! پہلے تم اپنے باغ سینچ لو پھر اپنے پڑوسی کو جلد پانی دے دینا۔ اس پر اس انصاری صحابی نے کہا: یا رسول اللہ! اس لیے کہ یہ آپ کے پھوپھی زاد بھائی ہیں؟ یہ سن کر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے چہرہ مبارک کا رنگ بدل گیا اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: زبیر! اپنے باغ کو سینچو اور پانی اس وقت تک روکے رکھو کہ منڈیر تک بھر جائے، پھر اپنے پڑوسی کے لیے اسے چھوڑو۔ ( پہلے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انصاری کے ساتھ اپنے فیصلے میں رعایت رکھی تھی ) لیکن اس مرتبہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے زبیر رضی اللہ عنہ کو صاف طور پر ان کا پورا حق دے دیا کیونکہ انصاری نے ایسی بات کہی تھی۔ جس سے آپ کا غصہ ہونا قدرتی تھا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے پہلے فیصلہ میں دونوں کے لیے رعایت رکھی تھی۔ زبیر رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ میرا خیال ہے، یہ آیات اسی سلسلے میں نازل ہوئی تھیں «فلا وربك لا يؤمنون حتى يحكموك فيما شجر بينهم‏» ”تیرے پروردگار کی قسم ہے کہ یہ لوگ ایماندار نہ ہوں گے جب تک یہ اس جھگڑے میں جو ان کے آپس میں ہوں آپ کو حکم نہ بنا لیں اور آپ کے فیصلے کو کھلے دل کے ساتھ برضا و رغبت تسلیم کرنے کے لیے تیار نہ ہوں۔“

Narrated `Aisha: I heard Allah's Messenger saying, No prophet gets sick but he is given the choice to select either this world or the Hereafter. `Aisha added: During his fatal illness, his voice became very husky and I heard him saying: In the company of those whom is the Grace of Allah, of the prophets, the Siddiqin (those followers of the prophets who were first and foremost to believe in them), the martyrs and the pious.' (4.69) And from this I came to know that he has been given the option.

Narrated Zaid bin Thabit: Regarding the Verse:-- Then what is the matter with you that you are divided into two parties about the hypocrites? (4.88) Some of the companions of the Prophet returned from the battle of Uhud (i.e. refused to fight) whereupon the Muslims got divided into two parties; one of them was in favor of their execution and the other was not in favour of it. So there ware revealed: Then what is the matter with you that you are divided into two parties about the hypocrites? (4.88). Then the Prophet said It (i.e. Medina) is aTayyaboh (good), it expels impurities as the fire expels the impurities of silver.

Narrated Sa`id bin Jubair: The people of Kufa disagreed (disputed) about the above Verse. So I went to Ibn `Abbas and asked him about it. He said, This Verse:-- And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell. was revealed last of all (concerning premeditated murder) and nothing abrogated it.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Regarding the Verse: And say not to anyone who offers you peace (by accepting Islam), You are not a believer. There was a man amidst his sheep. The Muslims pursued him, and he said (to them) Peace be on you. But they killed him and took over his sheep. Thereupon Allah revealed in that concern, the above Verse up to:-- ...seeking the perishable good of this life. (4.94) i.e. those sheep.
