Narrated `Amra: I heard `Aisha saying, When the news of the martyrdom of Ibn Haritha, Ja`far bin Abi Talib and `Abdullah bin Rawaka reached, Allah's Apostle sat with sorrow explicit on his face. `Aisha added, I was then peeping through a chink in the door. A man came to him and said, O Allah's Apostle! The women of Ja`far are crying.' Thereupon the Prophet told him to forbid them to do so. So the man went away and returned saying, I forbade them but they did not listen to me. The Prophet ordered him again to go (and forbid them). He went again and came saying, 'By Allah, they overpowered me (i.e. did not listen to me). `Aisha said that Allah's Apostle said (to him), Go and throw dust into their mouths. Aisha added, I said, May Allah put your nose in the dust! By Allah, neither have you done what you have been ordered, nor have you relieved Allah's Apostle from trouble.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَتْنِي عَمْرَةُ ، قَالَتْ : سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، تَقُولُ : لَمَّا جَاءَ قَتْلُ ابْنِ حَارِثَةَ ، وَجَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَوَاحَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ ، جَلَسَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعْرَفُ فِيهِ الْحُزْنُ ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : وَأَنَا أَطَّلِعُ مِنْ صَائِرِ الْبَابِ ، تَعْنِي : مِنْ شَقِّ الْبَابِ ، فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ : أَيْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ نِسَاءَ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : وَذَكَرَ بُكَاءَهُنَّ ، فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَنْهَاهُنَّ ، قَالَ : فَذَهَبَ الرَّجُلُ ثُمَّ أَتَى فَقَالَ : قَدْ نَهَيْتُهُنَّ ، وَذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يُطِعْنَهُ ، قَالَ : فَأَمَرَ أَيْضًا فَذَهَبَ ، ثُمَّ أَتَى فَقَالَ : وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ غَلَبْنَنَا ، فَزَعَمَتْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : فَاحْثُ فِي أَفْوَاهِهِنَّ مِنَ التُّرَابِ ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : فَقُلْتُ : أَرْغَمَ اللَّهُ أَنْفَكَ ، فَوَاللَّهِ مَا أَنْتَ تَفْعَلُ ، وَمَا تَرَكْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْعَنَاءِ .

ہم سے قتیبہ بن سعید نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا ہم سے عبدالوہاب بن عبدالمجید نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا کہ میں نے یحییٰ بن سعید سے سنا ‘ کہا کہ مجھے عمرہ بنت عبدالرحمٰن نے خبر دی ‘ کہا کہ میں نے عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے سنا ‘ انہوں نے بیان کیا زید بن حارثہ ‘ جعفر بن ابی طالب اور عبداللہ بن رواحہ رضی اللہ عنہم کی شہادت کی خبر آئی تھی ‘ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بیٹھے ہوئے تھے اور آپ کے چہرے سے غم ظاہر ہو رہا تھا۔ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے بیان کیا کہ میں دروازے کی دراڑ سے جھانک رہی تھی۔ اتنے میں ایک آدمی نے آ کر عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! جعفر رضی اللہ عنہ کے گھر کی عورتیں چلاّ کر رو رہی ہیں۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے حکم دیا کہ انہیں روک دو۔ بیان کیا کہ وہ صاحب گئے اور پھر واپس آ کر کہا کہ میں نے انہیں روکا اور یہ بھی کہہ دیا کہ انہوں نے اس کی بات نہیں مانی۔ پھر اس نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پھر منع کرنے کے لیے فرمایا۔ وہ صاحب پھر جا کر واپس آئے اور کہا: قسم اللہ کی! وہ تو ہم پر غالب آ گئی ہیں۔ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا بیان کرتی تھیں کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے فرمایا کہ پھر ان کے منہ میں مٹی جھونک دو۔ ام المؤمنین رضی اللہ عنہا نے بیان کیا ‘ میں نے کہا: اللہ تیری ناک غبار آلود کرے نہ تو تو عورتوں کو روک سکا نہ تو نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو تکلیف دینا ہی چھوڑا۔

Narrated 'Amir: Whenever Ibn `Umar greeted the son of Ja`far, he used to say (to him), Assalam 'Alaika (i.e. peace be on you) O the son of two-winged person.

Narrated An-Nu`man bin Bashir: `Abdullah bin Rawaha fell down unconscious and his sister `Amra started crying and was saying loudly, O Jabala! Oh so-and-so! Oh so-and-so! and went on calling him by his (good ) qualities one by one). When he came to his senses, he said (to his sister), When-ever you said something, I was asked, 'Are you really so (i.e. as she says)?

Narrated Ash Shabi: An Nu`man bin Bashir said, Abdullah bin Rawaha fell down unconscious.. (and mentioned the above Hadith adding, Thereupon, when he died she (i.e. his sister) did not weep over him.

Narrated Usama bin Zaid: Allah's Apostle sent us towards Al-Huruqa, and in the morning we attacked them and defeated them. I and an Ansari man followed a man from among them and when we took him over, he said, La ilaha illal-Lah. On hearing that, the Ansari man stopped, but I killed him by stabbing him with my spear. When we returned, the Prophet came to know about that and he said, O Usama! Did you kill him after he had said La ilaha ilal-Lah? I said, But he said so only to save himself. The Prophet kept on repeating that so often that I wished I had not embraced Islam before that day.
