Narrated Anas bin Malik: We arrived at Khaibar, and when Allah helped His Apostle to open the fort, the beauty of Safiya bint Huyai bin Akhtaq whose husband had been killed while she was a bride, was mentioned to Allah's Apostle. The Prophet selected her for himself, and set out with her, and when we reached a place called Sidd-as-Sahba,' Safiya became clean from her menses then Allah's Apostle married her. Hais (i.e. an 'Arabian dish) was prepared on a small leather mat. Then the Prophet said to me, I invite the people around you. So that was the marriage banquet of the Prophet and Safiya. Then we proceeded towards Medina, and I saw the Prophet, making for her a kind of cushion with his cloak behind him (on his camel). He then sat beside his camel and put his knee for Safiya to put her foot on, in order to ride (on the camel).

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْغَفَّارِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الزُّهْرِيُّ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو مَوْلَى الْمُطَّلِبِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَدِمْنَا خَيْبَرَ ، فَلَمَّا فَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الْحِصْنَ ذُكِرَ لَهُ جَمَالُ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ حُيَيِّ بْنِ أَخْطَبَ وَقَدْ قُتِلَ زَوْجُهَا وَكَانَتْ عَرُوسًا ، فَاصْطَفَاهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِنَفْسِهِ ، فَخَرَجَ بِهَا حَتَّى بَلَغْنَا سَدَّ الصَّهْبَاءِ حَلَّتْ ، فَبَنَى بِهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ صَنَعَ حَيْسًا فِي نِطَعٍ صَغِيرٍ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي : آذِنْ مَنْ حَوْلَكَ ، فَكَانَتْ تِلْكَ وَلِيمَتَهُ عَلَى صَفِيَّةَ ، ثُمَّ خَرَجْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُحَوِّي لَهَا وَرَاءَهُ بِعَبَاءَةٍ ، ثُمَّ يَجْلِسُ عِنْدَ بَعِيرِهِ فَيَضَعُ رُكْبَتَهُ وَتَضَعُ صَفِيَّةُ رِجْلَهَا عَلَى رُكْبَتِهِ حَتَّى تَرْكَبَ .

ہم سے عبدالغفار بن داؤد نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا ہم سے یعقوب بن عبدالرحمٰن نے بیان کیا (دوسری سند) اور مجھ سے احمد نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا ہم سے ابن وہب نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا کہ مجھے یعقوب بن عبدالرحمٰن زہری نے خبر دی ‘ انہیں مطلب کے مولیٰ عمرو نے اور ان سے انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ ہم خیبر آئے پھر جب اللہ تعالیٰ نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو خیبر کی فتح عنایت فرمائی تو آپ کے سامنے صفیہ بنت حیی بن اخطب رضی اللہ عنہا کی خوبصورتی کا کسی نے ذکر کیا ‘ ان کے شوہر قتل ہو گئے تھے اور ان کی شادی ابھی نئی ہوئی تھی۔ اس لیے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں اپنے لیے لے لیا اور انہیں ساتھ لے کر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم روانہ ہوئے۔ آخر جب ہم مقام سد الصہباء میں پہنچے تو ام المؤمنین صفیہ رضی اللہ عنہا حیض سے پاک ہوئیں اور نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کے ساتھ خلوت فرمائی پھر آپ نے حیس بنایا۔ ( جو کھجور کے ساتھ گھی اور پنیر وغیرہ ملا کر بنایا جاتا ہے ) اور اسے چھوٹے سے ایک دستر خوان پر رکھ کر مجھ کو حکم فرمایا کہ جو لوگ تمہارے قریب ہیں انہیں بلا لو۔ ام المؤمنین صفیہ رضی اللہ عنہا کا نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی طرف سے یہی ولیمہ تھا۔ پھر ہم مدینہ کے لیے روانہ ہوئے تو میں نے دیکھا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے صفیہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے لیے عبا اونٹ کی کوہان میں باندھ دی تاکہ پیچھے سے وہ اسے پکڑے رہیں اور اپنے اونٹ کے پاس بیٹھ کر اپنا گھٹنا اس پر رکھا اور صفیہ رضی اللہ عنہا اپنا پاؤں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے گھٹنے پر رکھ کر سوار ہوئیں۔

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet stayed with Safiya bint Huyai for three days on the way of Khaibar where he consummated his marriage with her. Safiya was amongst those who were ordered to use a veil.

Narrated Anas: The Prophet stayed for three rights between Khaibar and Medina and was married to Safiya. I invited the Muslim to h s marriage banquet and there wa neither meat nor bread in that banquet but the Prophet ordered Bilal to spread the leather mats on which dates, dried yogurt and butter were put. The Muslims said amongst themselves, Will she (i.e. Safiya) be one of the mothers of the believers, (i.e. one of the wives of the Prophet ) or just (a lady captive) of what his right-hand possesses Some of them said, If the Prophet makes her observe the veil, then she will be one of the mothers of the believers (i.e. one of the Prophet's wives), and if he does not make her observe the veil, then she will be his lady slave. So when he departed, he made a place for her behind him (on his and made her observe the veil.

Narrated `Abdullah bin Mughaffal: While we were besieging Khaibar, a person threw a leather container containing some fat and I ran to take it. Suddenly I looked behind, and behold! The Prophet was there. So I felt shy (to take it then).
