Narrated Abu Mijlaz: From Qais bin Ubad: `Ali bin Abi Talib said, I shall be the first man to kneel down before (Allah), the Beneficent to receive His judgment on the day of Resurrection (in my favor). Qais bin Ubad also said, The following Verse was revealed in their connection:-- These two opponents believers and disbelievers) Dispute with each other About their Lord. (22.19) Qais said that they were those who fought on the day of Badr, namely, Hamza, `Ali, 'Ubaida or Abu 'Ubaida bin Al-Harith, Shaiba bin Rabi`a, `Utba and Al-Wahd bin `Utba.

حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الرَّقَاشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مِجْلَزٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عُبَادٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : أَنَا أَوَّلُ مَنْ يَجْثُو بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الرَّحْمَنِ لِلْخُصُومَةِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَقَالَ قَيْسُ بْنُ عُبَادٍ : وَفِيهِمْ أُنْزِلَتْ هَذَانِ خَصْمَانِ اخْتَصَمُوا فِي رَبِّهِمْ سورة الحج آية 19 ، قَالَ : هُمُ الَّذِينَ تَبَارَزُوا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ حَمْزَةُ , وَعَلِيٌّ , وَعُبَيْدَةُ , أَوْ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ , وَشَيْبَةُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ , وَعُتْبَةُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ , وَالْوَلِيدُ بْنُ عُتْبَةَ .

مجھ سے محمد بن عبداللہ رقاشی نے بیان کیا، ہم سے معتمر نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ میں نے اپنے والد سے سنا، انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ ہم سے ابومجلز نے، ان سے قیس بن عباد نے اور ان سے علی بن ابی طالب رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ قیامت کے دن میں سب سے پہلا شخص ہوں گا جو اللہ تعالیٰ کے دربار میں جھگڑا چکانے کے لیے دو زانو ہو کر بیٹھے گا۔ قیس بن عباد نے بیان کیا کہ انہیں حضرات ( حمزہ، علی اور عبیدہ رضی اللہ عنہم ) کے بارے میں سورۃ الحج کی یہ آیت نازل ہوئی تھی «هذان خصمان اختصموا في ربهم‏» ”یہ دو فریق ہیں جنہوں نے اللہ کے بارے میں لڑائی کی۔“ بیان کیا کہ یہ وہی ہیں جو بدر کی لڑائی میں لڑنے نکلے تھے، مسلمانوں کی طرف سے حمزہ، علی اور عبیدہ یا ابوعبیدہ بن حارث رضوان اللہ علیہم ( اور کافروں کی طرف سے ) شیبہ بن ربیعہ، عتبہ بن ربیعہ اور ولید بن عتبہ تھے۔

Narrated Abu Dhar: The following Holy Verse:-- These two opponents (believers & disbelievers) dispute with each other about their Lord, (22.19) was revealed concerning six men from Quraish, namely, `Ali, Hamza, 'Ubaida bin Al-Harith; Shaiba bin Rabi`a, `Utba bin Rabi`a and Al-Walid bin `Utba.

Narrated `Ali: The following Holy Verse:-- These two opponents (believers and disbelievers) dispute with each other about their Lord. (22.19) was revealed concerning us.

Narrated Qais bin Ubad: I heard Abu Dhar swearing that these Holy Verses were revealed in connection with those six persons on the day of Badr.

Narrated Qais: I heard Abu Dhar swearing that the following Holy verse:-- These two opponents (believers and disbelievers) disputing with each other about their Lord, (22.19) was revealed concerning those men who fought on the day of Badr, namely, Hamza, `Ali, Ubaida bin Al-Harith, `Utba and Shaiba----the two sons of Rabi`a-- and Al-Walid bin `Utba.

Narrated Abu 'Is-haq: A man asked Al-Bara' and I was listening, Did `Ali take part in (the battle of) Badr? Al-Bara' said, (Yes). he even met (his enemies) in a duel and was clad in two armors (one over the other).

Narrated `Abdur-Rahman bin `Auf: I had an agreement with Umaiya bin Khalaf (that he would look after my relatives and property in Mecca, and I would look after his relatives and property in Medina). `Abdur-Rahman then mentioned the killing of Umaiya and his son on the day of Badr, and Bilal said, Woe to me if Umaiya remains safe (i.e. alive) .
