Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: Some people (i.e. the Jews of Bani bin Quraiza) agreed to accept the verdict of Sa`d bin Mu`adh so the Prophet sent for him (i.e. Sa`d bin Mu`adh). He came riding a donkey, and when he approached the Mosque, the Prophet said, Get up for the best amongst you. or said, Get up for your chief. Then the Prophet said, O Sa`d! These people have agreed to accept your verdict. Sa`d said, I judge that their warriors should be killed and their children and women should be taken as captives. The Prophet said, You have given a judgment similar to Allah's Judgment (or the King's judgment).

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَرْعَرَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ , أَنَّ أُنَاسًا نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ , فَجَاءَ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ قَرِيبًا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ , قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : قُومُوا إِلَى خَيْرِكُمْ أَوْ سَيِّدِكُمْ ، فَقَالَ : يَا سَعْدُ إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِكَ ، قَالَ : فَإِنِّي أَحْكُمُ فِيهِمْ أَنْ تُقْتَلَ مُقَاتِلَتُهُمْ وَتُسْبَى ذَرَارِيُّهُمْ ، قَالَ : حَكَمْتَ بِحُكْمِ اللَّهِ أَوْ بِحُكْمِ الْمَلِكِ .

ہم سے محمد بن عرعرہ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے شعبہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے سعد بن ابراہیم نے، ان سے ابوامامہ بن سہل بن حنیف نے اور ان سے ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ ایک قوم ( یہود بنی قریظہ ) نے سعد بن معاذ رضی اللہ عنہ کو ثالث مان کر ہتھیار ڈال دیئے تو انہیں بلانے کے لیے آدمی بھیجا گیا اور وہ گدھے پر سوار ہو کر آئے۔ جب اس جگہ کے قریب پہنچے جسے ( نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایام جنگ میں ) نماز پڑھنے کے لیے منتخب کیا ہوا تھا تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے صحابہ سے فرمایا کہ اپنے سب سے بہتر شخص کے لیے یا ( آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے یہ فرمایا ) اپنے سردار کو لینے کے لیے کھڑے ہو جاؤ۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اے سعد! انہوں نے تم کو ثالث مان کر ہتھیار ڈال دیئے ہیں۔ سعد رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا پھر میرا فیصلہ یہ ہے کہ ان کے جو لوگ جنگ کرنے والے ہیں انہیں قتل کر دیا جائے اور ان کی عورتوں، بچوں کو جنگی قیدی بنا لیا جائے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا تم نے اللہ کے فیصلے کے مطابق فیصلہ کیا یا ( آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے یہ فرمایا کہ ) فرشتے کے حکم کے مطابق فیصلہ کیا ہے۔

Narrated Anas: Two men left the Prophet on a very dark night. Suddenly a light came in front of them, and when they separated, the light also separated along with them.

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr: I heard the Prophet saying, Learn the recitation of Qur'an from four persons: Ibn Mas`ud, Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifa, Ubai and Mu`adh bin Jabal.

Narrated Abu Usaid: Allah's Apostle said, The best of the Ansar's houses are those of Bani An-Najjar, then those of Bani `Abdul Ash-hal, then those of Bani Al-Harith bin Al-Khazraj, then those of Bani Saida; but there is goodness in all the houses of the Ansar. Sa`d bin Ubada who was one of those who embraced Islam early, said, I see that Allah's Apostle is giving others superiority above us. Some people said to him, But he has given you superiority above many other people.

Narrated Masruq: `Abdullah bin Masud was mentioned before `Abdullah bin `Amr who said, That is a man I still love, as I heard the Prophet saying 'Learn the recitation of Qur'an from four from `Abdullah bin Mas`ud -- he started with him--Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudaifa, Mu`adh bin Jabal and Ubai bin Ka`b.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said to Ubai, Allah has ordered me to recite to you: 'Those who disbelieve (Surat-al- Bayina 98).' Ubai said, Has He mentioned my name? The Prophet said, Yes. On hearing this, Ubai started weeping.

Narrated Qatada: Anas said, The Qur'an was collected in the lifetime of the Prophet by four (men), all of whom were from the Ansar: Ubai, Mu`adh bin Jabal, Abu Zaid and Zaid bin Thabit. I asked Anas, Who is Abu Zaid? He said, One of my uncles.
