Translation

Narrated `Urwa: On the day of the battle of Al-Yarmuk, the companions of the Prophet said to Az-Zubair, Will you attack the enemy vigorously so that we may attack them along with you? So Az-Zubair attacked them, and they inflicted two wounds over his shoulder, and in between these two wounds there was an old scar he had received on the day of the battle of Badr When I was a child, I used to insert my fingers into those scars in play.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَفْصٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالُوا لِلزُّبَيْرِ يَوْمَ الْيَرْمُوكِ : أَلَا تَشُدُّ فَنَشُدَّ مَعَكَ , فَحَمَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَضَرَبُوهُ ضَرْبَتَيْنِ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ بَيْنَهُمَا ضَرْبَةٌ ضُرِبَهَا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ، قَالَ عُرْوَةُ : فَكُنْتُ أُدْخِلُ أَصَابِعِي فِي تِلْكَ الضَّرَبَاتِ أَلْعَبُ وَأَنَا صَغِيرٌ .

ہم سے علی بن حفص نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے عبداللہ بن مبارک نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو ہشام بن عروہ نے خبر دی اور انہیں ان کے والد نے کہ جنگ یرموک کے موقع پر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے صحابہ نے زبیر بن عوام رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہا آپ حملہ کیوں نہیں کرتے تاکہ ہم بھی آپ کے ساتھ حملہ کریں۔ چنانچہ انہوں نے ان ( رومیوں ) پر حملہ کیا۔ اس موقع پر انہوں نے ( رومیوں نے ) آپ کے دو کاری زخم شانے پر لگائے۔ درمیان میں وہ زخم تھا جو بدر کے موقع پر آپ کو لگا تھا۔ عروہ نے کہا کہ ( یہ زخم اتنے گہرے تھے کہ اچھے ہو جانے کے بعد ) میں بچپن میں ان زخموں کے اندر اپنی انگلیاں ڈال کر کھیلا کرتا تھا۔
