Narrated Al-Bara' bin `Azib: Abu Bakr came to my father who was at home and purchased a saddle from him. He said to `Azib. Tell your son to carry it with me. So I carried it with him and my father followed us so as to take the price (of the saddle). My father said, O Abu Bakr! Tell me what happened to you on your night journey with Allah's Apostle (during Migration). He said, Yes, we travelled the whole night and also the next day till midday. when nobody could be seen on the way ( because of the severe heat) . Then there appeared a long rock having shade beneath it, and the sunshine had not come to it yet. So we dismounted there and I levelled a place and covered it with an animal hide or dry grass for the Prophet to sleep on (for a while). I then said, 'Sleep, O Allah's Apostle, and I will guard you.' So he slept and I went out to guard him. Suddenly I saw a shepherd coming with his sheep to that rock with the same intention we had when we came to it. I asked (him). 'To whom do you belong, O boy?' He replied, 'I belong to a man from Medina or Mecca.' I said, 'Do your sheep have milk?' He said, 'Yes.' I said, 'Will you milk for us?' He said, 'Yes.' He caught hold of a sheep and I asked him to clean its teat from dust, hairs and dirt. (The sub-narrator said that he saw Al-Bara' striking one of his hands with the other, demonstrating how the shepherd removed the dust.) The shepherd milked a little milk in a wooden container and I had a leather container which I carried for the Prophet to drink and perform the ablution from. I went to the Prophet, hating to wake him up, but when I reached there, the Prophet had already awakened; so I poured water over the middle part of the milk container, till the milk was cold. Then I said, 'Drink, O Allah's Apostle!' He drank till I was pleased. Then he asked, 'Has the time for our departure come?' I said, 'Yes.' So we departed after midday. Suraqa bin Malik followed us and I said, 'We have been discovered, O Allah's Apostle!' He said, Don't grieve for Allah is with us.' The Prophet invoked evil on him (i.e. Suraqa) and so the legs of his horse sank into the earth up to its belly. (The subnarrator, Zuhair is not sure whether Abu Bakr said, (It sank) into solid earth. ) Suraqa said, 'I see that you have invoked evil on me. Please invoke good on me, and by Allah, I will cause those who are seeking after you to return.' The Prophet invoked good on him and he was saved. Then, whenever he met somebody on the way, he would say, 'I have looked for him here in vain.' So he caused whomever he met to return. Thus Suraqa fulfilled his promise.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ ، يَقُولُ : جَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِلَى أَبِي فِي مَنْزِلِهِ فَاشْتَرَى مِنْهُ رَحْلًا ، فَقَالَ لِعَازِبٍ ابْعَثْ ابْنَكَ يَحْمِلْهُ مَعِي ، قَالَ : فَحَمَلْتُهُ مَعَهُ وَخَرَجَ أَبِي يَنْتَقِدُ ثَمَنَهُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبِي : يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ حَدِّثْنِي كَيْفَ صَنَعْتُمَا حِينَ سَرَيْتَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ أَسْرَيْنَا لَيْلَتَنَا وَمِنَ الْغَدِ حَتَّى قَامَ قَائِمُ الظَّهِيرَةِ وَخَلَا الطَّرِيقُ لَا يَمُرُّ فِيهِ أَحَدٌ فَرُفِعَتْ لَنَا صَخْرَةٌ طَوِيلَةٌ لَهَا ظِلٌّ لَمْ تَأْتِ عَلَيْهِ الشَّمْسُ فَنَزَلْنَا عِنْدَهُ وَسَوَّيْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَكَانًا بِيَدِي يَنَامُ عَلَيْهِ وَبَسَطْتُ فِيهِ فَرْوَةً ، وَقُلْتُ : نَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَأَنَا أَنْفُضُ لَكَ مَا حَوْلَكَ فَنَامَ وَخَرَجْتُ أَنْفُضُ مَا حَوْلَهُ فَإِذَا أَنَا بِرَاعٍ مُقْبِلٍ بِغَنَمِهِ إِلَى الصَّخْرَةِ يُرِيدُ مِنْهَا مِثْلَ الَّذِي أَرَدْنَا ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : لِمَنْ أَنْتَ يَا غُلَامُ ، فَقَالَ : لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ أَوْ مَكَّةَ ، قُلْتُ : أَفِي غَنَمِكَ لَبَنٌ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قُلْتُ : أَفَتَحْلُبُ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، فَأَخَذَ شَاةً ، فَقُلْتُ : انْفُضْ الضَّرْعَ مِنَ التُّرَابِ وَالشَّعَرِ وَالْقَذَى ، قَالَ : فَرَأَيْتُ الْبَرَاءَ يَضْرِبُ إِحْدَى يَدَيْهِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى يَنْفُضُ فَحَلَبَ فِي قَعْبٍ كُثْبَةً مِنْ لَبَنٍ وَمَعِي إِدَاوَةٌ حَمَلْتُهَا لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرْتَوِي مِنْهَا يَشْرَبُ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ أُوقِظَهُ فَوَافَقْتُهُ حِينَ اسْتَيْقَظَ فَصَبَبْتُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ عَلَى اللَّبَنِ حَتَّى بَرَدَ أَسْفَلُهُ ، فَقُلْتُ : اشْرَبْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : فَشَرِبَ حَتَّى رَضِيتُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : أَلَمْ يَأْنِ لِلرَّحِيلِ ، قُلْتُ : بَلَى ، قَالَ : فَارْتَحَلْنَا بَعْدَ مَا مَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ وَاتَّبَعَنَا سُرَاقَةُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، فَقُلْتُ : أُتِينَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ : لَا تَحْزَنْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَنَا فَدَعَا عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَارْتَطَمَتْ بِهِ فَرَسُهُ إِلَى بَطْنِهَا أُرَى فِي جَلَدٍ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ شَكَّ زُهَيْرٌ ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي أُرَاكُمَا قَدْ دَعَوْتُمَا عَلَيَّ فَادْعُوَا لِي فَاللَّهُ لَكُمَا أَنْ أَرُدَّ عَنْكُمَا الطَّلَبَ فَدَعَا لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَجَا فَجَعَلَ لَا يَلْقَى أَحَدًا إِلَّا ، قَالَ : كَفَيْتُكُمْ مَا هُنَا فَلَا يَلْقَى أَحَدًا إِلَّا رَدَّهُ ، قَالَ : وَوَفَى لَنَا .

ہم سے محمد بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے احمد بن یزید بن ابراہیم ابوالحسن حرانی نے، کہا ہم سے زہیر بن معاویہ نے، کہا ہم سے ابواسحٰق نے بیان کیا اور انہوں نے براء بن عازب رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا، انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ میرے والد کے پاس ان کے گھر آئے اور ان سے ایک پالان خریدا۔ پھر انہوں نے میرے والد سے کہا کہ اپنے بیٹے کے ذریعہ اسے میرے ساتھ بھیج دو۔ براء رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا چنانچہ میں اس کجاوے کو اٹھا کر آپ کے ساتھ چلا اور میرے والد اس کی قیمت کے روپے پرکھوانے لگے۔ میرے والد نے ان سے پوچھا اے ابوبکر! مجھے وہ واقعہ سنائیے جب آپ نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ غار ثور سے ہجرت کی تھی تو آپ دونوں نے وہ وقت کیسے گزارا تھا؟ اس پر انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ جی ہاں، رات بھر تو ہم چلتے رہے اور دوسرے دن صبح کو بھی لیکن جب دوپہر کا وقت ہوا اور راستہ بالکل سنسان پڑ گیا کہ کوئی بھی آدمی گزرتا ہوا دکھائی نہیں دیتا تھا تو ہمیں ایک لمبی چٹان دکھائی دی، اس کے سائے میں دھوپ نہیں تھی۔ ہم وہاں اتر گئے اور میں نے خود نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے لیے ایک جگہ اپنے ہاتھ سے ٹھیک کر دی اور ایک چادر وہاں بچھا دی۔ پھر میں نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! آپ یہاں آرام فرمائیں میں نگرانی کروں گا، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سو گئے اور میں چاروں طرف حالات دیکھنے کے لیے نکلا۔ اتفاق سے مجھے ایک چرواہا ملا۔ وہ بھی اپنی بکریوں کے ریوڑ کو اسی چٹان کے سائے میں لانا چاہتا تھا جس کے تلے میں نے وہاں پڑاؤ ڈالا تھا۔ وہی اس کا بھی ارادہ تھا، میں نے اس سے پوچھا کہ تو کس قبیلے سے ہے؟ اس نے بتایا کہ مدینہ یا ( راوی نے کہا کہ ) مکہ کے فلاں شخص سے، میں نے اس سے پوچھا کہ کیا تیری بکریوں سے دودھ مل سکتا ہے؟ اس نے کہا کہ ہاں۔ میں نے پوچھا کیا ہمارے لیے تو دودھ نکال سکتا ہے؟ اس نے کہا کہ ہاں۔ چنانچہ وہ ایک بکری پکڑ کے لایا۔ میں نے اس سے کہا کہ پہلے تھن کو مٹی، بال اور دوسری گندگیوں سے صاف کر لے۔ ابواسحٰق راوی نے کہا کہ میں نے براء بن عازب رضی اللہ عنہ کو دیکھا کہ انہوں نے اپنے ایک ہاتھ کو دوسرے پر مار کر تھن کو جھاڑنے کی صورت بیان کی۔ اس نے لکڑی کے ایک پیالے میں دودھ نکالا۔ میں نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے لیے ایک برتن اپنے ساتھ رکھ لیا تھا۔ آپ اس سے پانی پیا کرتے تھے اور وضو بھی کر لیتے تھے۔ پھر میں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا ( آپ سو رہے تھے ) میں آپ کو جگانا پسند نہیں کرتا تھا۔ لیکن بعد میں جب میں آیا تو آپ بیدار ہو چکے تھے۔ میں نے پہلے دودھ کے برتن پر پانی بہایا جب اس کے نیچے کا حصہ ٹھنڈا ہو گیا تو میں نے عرض کیا: اے اللہ کے رسول! دودھ پی لیجئے، انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دودھ نوش فرمایا جس سے مجھے خوشی حاصل ہوئی۔ پھر آپ نے فرمایا کیا ابھی کوچ کرنے کا وقت نہیں آیا؟ میں نے عرض کیا کہ آ گیا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا: جب سورج ڈھل گیا تو ہم نے کوچ کیا۔ بعد میں سراقہ بن مالک ہمارا پیچھا کرتا ہوا یہیں پہنچا۔ میں نے کہا: یا رسول اللہ! اب تو یہ ہمارے قریب ہی پہنچ گیا ہے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ غم نہ کرو۔ اللہ ہمارے ساتھ ہے۔ آپ نے پھر اس کے لیے بددعا کی اور اس کا گھوڑا اسے لیے ہوئے پیٹ تک زمین میں دھنس گیا۔ میرا خیال ہے کہ زمین بڑی سخت تھی۔ یہ شک ( راوی حدیث ) زہیر کو تھا۔ سراقہ نے کہا: میں سمجھتا ہوں کہ آپ لوگوں نے میرے لیے بددعا کی ہے۔ اگر اب آپ لوگ میرے لیے ( اس مصیبت سے نجات کی ) دعا کر دیں تو اللہ کی قسم میں آپ لوگوں کی تلاش میں آنے والے تمام لوگوں کو واپس لوٹا دوں گا۔ چنانچہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پھر دعا کی تو وہ نجات پا گیا۔ پھر تو جو بھی اسے راستے میں ملتا اس سے وہ کہتا تھا کہ میں بہت تلاش کر چکا ہوں۔ قطعی طور پر وہ ادھر نہیں ہیں۔ اس طرح جو بھی ملتا اسے وہ واپس اپنے ساتھ لے جاتا۔ ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ اس نے ہمارے ساتھ جو وعدہ کیا تھا اسے پورا کیا۔

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet paid a visit to a sick bedouin. The Prophet when visiting a patient used to say, No harm will befall you! May Allah cure you! May Allah cure you! So the Prophet said to the bedouin. No harm will befall you. May Allah cure you! The bedouin said, You say, may Allah cure me? No, for it is a fever which boils in (the body of) an old man, and will lead him to the grave. The Prophet said, Yes, then may it be as you say.

Narrated Anas: There was a Christian who embraced Islam and read Surat-al-Baqara and Al-`Imran, and he used to write (the revelations) for the Prophet. Later on he returned to Christianity again and he used to say: Muhammad knows nothing but what I have written for him. Then Allah caused him to die, and the people buried him, but in the morning they saw that the earth had thrown his body out. They said, This is the act of Muhammad and his companions. They dug the grave of our companion and took his body out of it because he had run away from them. They again dug the grave deeply for him, but in the morning they again saw that the earth had thrown his body out. They said, This is an act of Muhammad and his companions. They dug the grave of our companion and threw his body outside it, for he had run away from them. They dug the grave for him as deep as they could, but in the morning they again saw that the earth had thrown his body out. So they believed that what had befallen him was not done by human beings and had to leave him thrown (on the ground).

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, When Khosrau perishes, there will be no (more) Khosrau after him, and when Caesar perishes, there will be no more Caesar after him. By Him in Whose Hands Muhammad's life is, you will spend the treasures of both of them in Allah's Cause.

Narrated Jabir bin Samura: The Prophet said, When Khosrau perishes, there will be no more Khosrau a after him, and when Caesar perishes, there will be no more Caesar after him, The Prophet also said, You will spend the treasures of both of them in Allah's Cause.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Musailama-al-Kadhdhab (i.e. the liar) came in the life-time of Allah's Apostle with many of his people (to Medina) and said, If Muhammad makes me his successor, I will follow him. Allah's Apostle went up to him with Thabit bin Qais bin Shams; and Allah's Apostle was carrying a piece of a datepalm leaf in his hand. He stood before Musailama (and his companions) and said, If you asked me even this piece (of a leaf), I would not give it to you. You cannot avoid the fate you are destined to, by Allah. If you reject Islam, Allah will destroy you. I think that you are most probably the same person whom I have seen in the dream.

Abu Huraira told me that Allah's Apostle; said, While I was sleeping, I saw (in a dream) two gold bracelets round my arm, and that worried me too much. Then I was instructed divinely in my dream, to blow them off and so I blew them off, and they flew away. I interpreted the two bracelets as symbols of two liars who would appear after me. And so one of them was Al-Ansi and the other was Musailama Al-Kadhdhab from Al-Yamama.
