Translation

Narrated Anas: Allah's Apostle was neither very tall nor short, neither absolutely white nor deep brown. His hair was neither curly nor lank. Allah sent him (as an Apostle) when he was forty years old. Afterwards he resided in Mecca for ten years and in Medina for ten more years. When Allah took him unto Him, there was scarcely twenty white hairs in his head and beard.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْسَ بِالطَّوِيلِ الْبَائِنِ وَلَا بِالْقَصِيرِ ، وَلَا بِالْأَبْيَضِ الْأَمْهَقِ وَلَيْسَ بِالْآدَمِ وَلَيْسَ بِالْجَعْدِ الْقَطَطِ وَلَا بِالسَّبْطِ بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى رَأْسِ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً ، فَأَقَامَ بِمَكَّةَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ وَبِالْمَدِينَةِ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ ، فَتَوَفَّاهُ اللَّهُ وَلَيْسَ فِي رَأْسِهِ وَلِحْيَتِهِ عِشْرُونَ شَعْرَةً بَيْضَاءَ .

ہم سے عبداللہ بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم کو مالک بن انس نے خبر دی، انہیں ربیعہ بن ابی عبدالرحمٰن نے اور انہوں نے انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا، آپ نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نہ بہت لمبے تھے اور نہ چھوٹے قد کے، نہ بالکل سفید تھے اور نہ گندمی رنگ کے۔ نہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے بال بہت زیادہ گھونگھریالے تھے اور نہ بالکل سیدھے لٹکے ہوئے، اللہ تعالیٰ نے آپ کو چالیس سال کی عمر میں نبوت دی اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مکہ میں دس سال تک قیام کیا اور مدینہ میں دس سال تک قیام کیا۔ جب اللہ تعالیٰ نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو وفات دی تو آپ کے سر اور داڑھی کے بیس بال بھی سفید نہیں تھے۔

Narrated Al-Bara: Allah's Apostle was the handsomest of all the people, and had the best appearance. He was neither very tall nor short.

Narrated Qatada: I asked Anas, Did the Prophet use to dye (his) hair? He said, No, for there were only a few white hairs on his temples.

Narrated Al-Bara: The Prophet was of moderate height having broad shoulders (long) hair reaching his ear-lobes. Once I saw him in a red cloak and I had never seen a more handsome than him.

Narrated Abu 'Is-haq: Al-Bara' was asked, Was the face of the Prophet (as bright) as a sword? He said, No, but (as bright) as a moon.

Narrated Abu Juhaifa: Once Allah's Apostle went to Al-Batha' at noon, performed the ablution and offered' a two rak`at Zuhr prayer and a two-rak`at `Asr prayer while a spearheaded stick was planted before him and the passersby were passing in front of it. (After the prayer), the people got up and held the hands of the Prophet and passed them on their faces. I also took his hand and kept it on my face and noticed that it was colder than ice, and its smell was nicer than musk.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet was the most generous of all the people, and he used to become more generous in Ramadan when Gabriel met him. Gabriel used to meet him every night during Ramadan to revise the Qur'an with him. Allah's Apostle then used to be more generous than the fast wind.
