Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The delegates of `Abd-ul-Qais came to Allah's Apostle and said, O Allah's Apostle! We are from the tribe of Rabi`a and the infidels of Mudar tribe stand between us and you, so that we cannot come to you except in the Sacred Months. Therefore we would like you to give us some instructions which we may follow and convey to our people staying behind us. The Prophet said, I order you to observe four things and forbid you (to do) four things: (I order you) to believe in Allah testifying that None has the right to be worshipped except Allah; to offer the prayer perfectly; to pay the Zakat; and to give one-fifth of the war booty to Allah. And I forbid you to use Ad-Dubba, Al-Hantam, An-Naqir and Al- Muzaffat. (These are names of utensils in which alcoholic drinks were served.)

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي جَمْرَةَ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، يَقُولُ : قَدِمَ وَفْدُ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْحَيِّ مِنْ رَبِيعَةَ قَدْ حَالَتْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ كُفَّارُ مُضَرَ فَلَسْنَا نَخْلُصُ إِلَيْكَ إِلَّا فِي كُلِّ شَهْرٍ حَرَامٍ فَلَوْ أَمَرْتَنَا بِأَمْرٍ نَأْخُذُهُ عَنْكَ وَنُبَلِّغُهُ مَنْ وَرَاءَنَا ، قَالَ : آمُرُكُمْ بِأَرْبَعٍ وَأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ أَرْبَعٍ الْإِيمَانِ بِاللَّهِ شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ ، وَأَنْ تُؤَدُّوا إِلَى اللَّهِ خُمْسَ مَا غَنِمْتُمْ وَأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ ، وَالْحَنْتَمِ ، وَالنَّقِيرِ ، وَالْمُزَفَّتِ .

ہم سے مسدد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے حماد نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابوجمرہ نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ میں نے عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے سنا وہ کہتے تھے کہ قبیلہ عبدالقیس کا وفد رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں آیا اور اس نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! ہمارا تعلق قبیلہ ربیعہ سے ہے اور ہمارے اور آپ کے درمیان ( راستے میں ) کفار مضر کا قبیلہ پڑتا ہے، اس لیے ہم آپ کی خدمت اقدس میں صرف حرمت کے مہینوں میں ہی حاضر ہو سکتے ہیں۔ مناسب ہوتا اگر آپ ہمیں ایسے احکام بتلا دیتے جن پر ہم خود بھی مضبوطی سے قائم رہتے اور جو لوگ ہمارے پیچھے رہ گئے ہیں انہیں بھی بتا دیتے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ میں تمہیں چار چیزوں کا حکم دیتا ہوں اور چار چیزوں سے روکتا ہوں، اول اللہ پر ایمان لانے کا، یعنی اس کی گواہی دینا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ کے سوا اور کوئی معبود نہیں اور نماز قائم کرنے کا اور زکوٰۃ ادا کرنے کا اور اس بات کا کہ جو کچھ بھی تمہیں مال غنیمت ملے اس میں سے پانچواں حصہ اللہ کو ( یعنی امام وقت کے بیت المال کو ) ادا کرو اور میں تمہیں دباء، حنتم، نقیر اور مزفت ( کے استعمال ) سے منع کرتا ہوں۔

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: I heard Allah's Apostle on the pulpit saying, Verily, afflictions (will start) from here, pointing towards the east, whence the side of the head of Satan comes out.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, The tribes of Quraish, Al-Ansar, Juhaina, Muzaina, Aslam, Ghifar and Ashja' are my helpers, and they have no protector (i.e. Master) except Allah and His Apostle.

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: While Allah's Apostle was on the pulpit, he said, May Allah give the tribe of Ghifar! And may Allah save the tribe of Aslam! The tribe of 'Usaiya have disobeyed Allah and His Apostle.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, May Allah save the tribe of Aslam, and may Allah forgive the tribe of Ghifar!

Narrated Abu Bakra: The Prophet said, Do you think that the tribes of Juhaina, Muzaina, Aslam and Ghifar are better than the tribes of Bani Tamim, Bani Asad, Bam `Abdullah bin Ghatafan and Bani Amir bin Sasaa? A man said, They were unsuccessful and losers. The Prophet added, (Yes), they are better than the tribes of Bani Tamim, Bani Asad, Bani `Abdullah bin Ghatafan and Bani Amir bin Sasaa.

Narrated Abu Bakra: Al-Aqra' bin Habis said to the Prophet Nobody gave you the pledge of allegiance but the robbers of the pilgrims (i.e. those who used to rob the pilgrims) from the tribes of Aslam, Ghifar, Muzaina. (Ibn Abi Ya'qub is in doubt whether Al-Aqra' added. 'And Juhaina.') The Prophet said, Don't you think that the tribes of Aslam, Ghifar, Muzaina (and also perhaps) Juhaina are better than the tribes of Bani Tamim, Bani Amir, Asad, and Ghatafan? Somebody said, They were unsuccessful and losers! The Prophet said, Yes, by Him in Whose Hands my life is, they (i.e. the former) are better than they (i.e. the latter).
