Narrated Safiya: (the wife of the Prophet) That she came to visit Allah's Apostle while he was in I`tikaf (i.e. seclusion in the Mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan). When she got up to return, Allah's Apostle got up with her and accompanied her, and when he reached near the gate of the Mosque close to the door (of the house) of Um Salama, the wife of the Prophet, two Ansari men passed by them and greeted Allah's Apostle and then went away. Allah's Apostle addressed them saying, Don't hurry! (She is my wife), They said, Glorified be Allah! O Allah's Apostle (You are far away from any suspicion), and his saying was hard on them. Allah's Apostle said, Satan circulates in the mind of a person as blood does (in his body). I was afraid that Satan might put some (evil) thoughts in your minds.

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ ، أَنَّ صَفِيَّةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّهَا جَاءَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَزُورُهُ وَهُوَ مُعْتَكِفٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ ، ثُمَّ قَامَتْ تَنْقَلِبُ ، فَقَامَ مَعَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَ قَرِيبًا مِنْ بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ عِنْدَ بَابِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِهِمَا رَجُلَانِ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ فَسَلَّمَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ نَفَذَا ، فَقَالَ لَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : عَلَى رِسْلِكُمَا ، قَالَا : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَكَبُرَ عَلَيْهِمَا ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَبْلُغُ مِنَ الْإِنْسَانِ مَبْلَغَ الدَّمِ ، وَإِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ يَقْذِفَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمَا شَيْئًا .

ہم سے سعید بن عفیر نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا کہ مجھ سے لیث بن سعد نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا کہ مجھ سے عبدالرحمٰن بن خالد نے بیان کیا ‘ ان سے ابن شہاب نے ‘ ان سے علی بن حسین زین العابدین نے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی زوجہ مطہرہ صفیہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے انہیں خبر دی کہ وہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں ملنے کے لیے حاضر ہوئیں۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم رمضان کے آخری عشرہ کا مسجد میں اعتکاف کئے ہوئے تھے۔ پھر وہ واپس ہونے کے لیے اٹھیں تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بھی ان کے ساتھ اٹھے۔ جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اپنی زوجہ مطہرہ ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے دروازہ کے قریب پہنچے جو مسجد نبوی کے دروازے سے ملا ہوا تھا تو دو انصاری صحابی ( اسید بن حضیر رضی اللہ عنہ اور عباد بن بشر رضی اللہ عنہ ) وہاں سے گزرے۔ اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو انہوں نے سلام کیا اور آگے بڑھنے لگے۔ لیکن آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے فرمایا ‘ ذرا ٹھہر جاؤ ( میرے ساتھ میری بیوی صفیہ رضی اللہ عنہا ہیں یعنی کوئی دوسرا نہیں ) ان دونوں نے عرض کیا۔ سبحان اللہ ‘ یا رسول اللہ! ان حضرات پر آپ کا یہ فرمانا بڑا شاق گزرا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس پر فرمایا کہ شیطان انسان کے اندر اس طرح دوڑتا رہتا ہے جیسے جسم میں خون دوڑتا ہے۔ مجھے یہی خطرہ ہوا کہ کہیں تمہارے دلوں میں بھی کوئی وسوسہ پیدا نہ ہو جائے۔

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: Once I went upstairs in Hafsa's house and saw the Prophet answering the call of nature with his back towards the Qibla and facing Sham.

Narrated `Abdullah: The Prophet stood up and delivered a sermon, and pointing to `Aisha's house (i.e. eastwards), he said thrice, Affliction (will appear from) here, and, from where the side of the Satan's head comes out (i.e. from the East).

Narrated `Amra bint `Abdur-Rahman: `Aisha, the wife of the Prophet told her that once Allah's Apostle was with her and she heard somebody asking permission to enter Hafsa's house. She said, O Allah's Apostle! This man is asking permission to enter your house. Allah's Apostle replied, I think he is so-and-so (meaning the foster uncle of Hafsa). What is rendered illegal because of blood relations, is also rendered illegal because of the corresponding foster-relations.

Narrated Anas: That when Abu Bakr became the Caliph, he sent him to Bahrain and wrote this letter for him, and stamped it with the Ring of the Prophet. Three lines were engraved on the Ring, (the word) 'Muhammad' was in a line, 'Apostle' was in another line, and 'Allah' in a third.

Narrated `Isa bin Tahman: Anas brought out to us two worn out leather shoes without hair and with pieces of leather straps. Later on Thabit Al-Banani told me that Anas said that they were the shoes of the Prophet.
