Narrated `Aisha: Fatima bint Abi Hubaish said to Allah's Apostle, O Allah's Apostle! I do not become clean (from bleeding). Shall I give up my prayers? Allah's Apostle replied: No, because it is from a blood vessel and not the menses. So when the real menses begins give up your prayers and when it (the period) has finished wash the blood off your body (take a bath) and offer your prayers.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : قَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي لَا أَطْهُرُ أَفَأَدَعُ الصَّلَاةَ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّمَا ذَلِكِ عِرْقٌ وَلَيْسَ بِالْحَيْضَةِ ، فَإِذَا أَقْبَلَتِ الْحَيْضَةُ فَاتْرُكِي الصَّلَاةَ فَإِذَا ذَهَبَ قَدْرُهَا فَاغْسِلِي عَنْكِ الدَّمَ وَصَلِّي .

ہم سے عبداللہ بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے امام مالک نے ہشام بن عروہ کے واسطہ سے بیان کیا، انہوں نے اپنے والد سے، انہوں نے عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے، آپ نے بیان کیا کہ فاطمہ ابی حبیش کی بیٹی نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کہا کہ یا رسول اللہ! میں تو پاک ہی نہیں ہوتی، تو کیا میں نماز بالکل چھوڑ دوں۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ یہ رگ کا خون ہے حیض نہیں اس لیے جب حیض کے دن ( جن میں کبھی پہلے تمہیں عادتاً آیا کرتا تھا ) آئیں تو نماز چھوڑ دے اور جب اندازہ کے مطابق وہ دن گزر جائیں، تو خون دھو ڈال اور نماز پڑھ۔

Narrated Asma' bint Abi Bakr: A woman asked Allah's Apostle, O Allah's Apostle! What should we do, if the blood of menses falls on our clothes? Allah's Apostle replied, If the blood of menses falls on the garment of anyone of you, she must take hold of the blood spot, rub it, and wash it with water and then pray in (with it).

Narrated `Aisha: Whenever anyone of us got her menses, she, on becoming clean, used to take hold of the blood spot and rub the blood off her garment, and pour water over it and wash that portion thoroughly and sprinkle water over the rest of the garment. After that she would pray in (with) it.

Narrated `Aisha: Once one of the wives of the Prophet did I`tikaf along with him and she was getting bleeding in between her periods. She used to see the blood (from her private parts) and she would perhaps put a dish under her for the blood. (The sub-narrator `Ikrima added, `Aisha once saw the liquid of safflower and said, It looks like what so and so used to have. )

Narrated `Aisha: One of the wives of Allah's Apostle joined him in I`tikaf and she noticed blood and yellowish discharge (from her private parts) and put a dish under her when she prayed.

Narrated `Aisha: One of the mothers of the faithful believers (i.e. the wives of the Prophet ) did I`tikaf while she was having bleeding in between her periods.

Narrated `Aisha: None of us had more than a single garment and we used to have our menses while wearing it. Whenever it got soiled with blood of menses we used to apply saliva to the blood spot and rub off the blood with our nails.
