Narrated `Umar bin Al-Khattab: I gave a horse in Allah's Cause. The person to whom it was given, did not look after it. I intended to buy it from him, thinking that he would sell it cheap. When I asked the Prophet he said, Don't buy it, even if he gives it to you for one Dirham, as the person who takes back what he has given in charity, is like a dog that swallows back its vomit.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ قَزَعَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ : حَمَلْتُ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَأَضَاعَهُ الَّذِي كَانَ عِنْدَهُ ، فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَشْتَرِيَهُ مِنْهُ ، وَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ بَائِعُهُ بِرُخْصٍ ، فَسَأَلْتُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : لَا تَشْتَرِهِ ، وَإِنْ أَعْطَاكَهُ بِدِرْهَمٍ وَاحِدٍ ، فَإِنَّ الْعَائِدَ فِي صَدَقَتِهِ كَالْكَلْبِ يَعُودُ فِي قَيْئِهِ .

ہم سے یحییٰ بن قزعہ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے امام مالک نے بیان کیا زید بن اسلم سے، ان سے ان کے باپ نے کہ انہوں نے عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا۔ آپ نے فرمایا کہ میں نے ایک گھوڑا اللہ کے راستے میں جہاد کے لیے ( ایک شخص کو ) دیا ) ۔ جسے میں نے وہ گھوڑا دیا تھا، اس نے اسے دبلا کر دیا۔ اس لیے میرا ارادہ ہوا کہ اس سے اپنا وہ گھوڑا خرید لوں، میرا یہ بھی خیال تھا کہ وہ شخص وہ گھوڑا سستے داموں پر بیچ دے گا۔ لیکن جب میں نے اس کے بارے میں نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا تو آپ نے فرمایا کہ تم اسے نہ خریدو، خواہ تمہیں وہ ایک ہی درہم میں کیوں نہ دے۔ کیونکہ اپنے صدقہ کو واپس لینے والا شخص اس کتے کی طرح ہے جو اپنی ہی قے خود چاٹتا ہے۔

Narrated Asma' bint Abu Bakr (ra): My mother came to me during the lifetime of Allah's Messenger (saws) and she was a Mushrikah (polytheist, idolatress, pagan). I said to Allah's Messenger (saws) (seeking his verdict), My mother has come to and she desires to recieve a reward from me, shall I keep good relations with her ? The Prophet (saws) said, Yes, keep good relation with her.

Narrated Anas: Once the people of Medina were frightened, so the Prophet borrowed a horse from Abu Talha called Al-Mandub, and rode it. When he came back he said, We have not seen anything (to be afraid of), but the horse was very fast (having an energy as inexhaustible as the water of the sea).

Narrated Aiman: I went to `Aisha and she was wearing a coarse dress costing five Dirhams. `Aisha said, Look up and see my slave-girl who refuses to wear it in the house though during the lifetime of Allah's Apostle I had a similar dress which no woman desiring to appear elegant (before her husband) failed to borrow from me.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, What a good Maniha (the she-camel which has recently given birth and which gives profuse milk) is, and (what a good Maniha) (the sheep which gives profuse milk, a bowl in the morning and another in the evening) is! Narrated Malik: Maniha is a good deed of charity.
