Narrated Ibn `Umar: `Umar saw a silken cloak over a man for sale and requested the Prophet to buy it in order to wear it on Fridays and while meeting delegates. The Prophet said, This is worn by the one who will have no share in the Hereafter. Later on Allah's Apostle got some silken cloaks similar to that one, and he sent one to `Umar. `Umar said to the Prophet How can I wear it, while you said about it what you said? The Prophet said, I have not given it to you to wear, but to sell or to give to someone else. So, `Umar sent it to his brother at Mecca before he embraced Islam.

حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : رَأَى عُمَرُحُلَّةً عَلَى رَجُلٍ تُبَاعُ ، فَقَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : ابْتَعْ هَذِهِ الْحُلَّةَ تَلْبَسْهَا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، وَإِذَا جَاءَكَ الْوَفْدُ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّمَا يَلْبَسُ هَذَا مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ ، فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْهَا بِحُلَلٍ ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى عُمَرَ مِنْهَا بِحُلَّةٍ ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : كَيْفَ أَلْبَسُهَا وَقَدْ قُلْتَ فِيهَا مَا قُلْتَ ؟ قَالَ : إِنِّي لَمْ أَكْسُكَهَا لِتَلْبَسَهَا تَبِيعُهَا أَوْ تَكْسُوهَا ، فَأَرْسَلَ بِهَا عُمَرُ إِلَى أَخٍ لَهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْلِمَ .

ہم سے خالد بن مخلد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے سلیمان بن بلال نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ مجھ سے عبداللہ بن دینار نے بیان کیا اور ان سے عبداللہ بن عمر نے کہ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے دیکھا کہ ایک شخص کے یہاں ایک ریشمی جوڑا فروخت ہو رہا ہے۔ تو آپ نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کہا کہ آپ یہ جوڑا خرید لیجئیے تاکہ جمعہ کے دن اور جب کوئی وفد آئے تو آپ اسے پہنا کریں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ اسے تو وہ لوگ پہنتے ہیں جن کا آخرت میں کوئی حصہ نہیں ہوتا۔ پھر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس بہت سے ریشمی جوڑے آئے اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان میں سے ایک جوڑا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو بھیجا۔ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ میں اسے کس طرح پہن سکتا ہوں جب کہ آپ خود ہی اس کے متعلق جو کچھ ارشاد فرمانا تھا، فرما چکے ہیں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ میں نے تمہیں پہننے کے لیے نہیں دیا بلکہ اس لیے دیا کہ تم اسے بیچ دو یا کسی ( غیر مسلم ) کو پہنا دو۔ چنانچہ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے اسے مکے میں اپنے ایک بھائی کے گھر بھیج دیا جو ابھی اسلام نہیں لایا تھا۔

Narrated Asma' bint Abu Bakr: My mother came to me during the lifetime of Allah's Apostle and she was a pagan. I said to Allah's Apostle (seeking his verdict), My mother has come to me and she desires to receive a reward from me, shall I keep good relations with her? The Prophet said, Yes, keep good relation with her.

Narrated `Umar bin Al-Khattab: I gave a horse in Allah's Cause. The person to whom it was given, did not look after it. I intended to buy it from him, thinking that he would sell it cheap. When I asked the Prophet he said, Don't buy it, even if he gives it to you for one Dirham, as the person who takes back what he has given in charity, is like a dog that swallows back its vomit.
