Narrated Abu Al-Bakhtari: I asked Ibn `Umar about Salam (the fruits of) date-palms. He replied, The Prophet forbade the sale of dates till their benefit becomes evident and fit for eating and also the sale of silver (for gold) on credit. I asked Ibn `Abbas about Salam for dates and he replied, The Prophet forbade the sale of dates till they were fit for eating and could be estimated.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ السَّلَمِ فِي النَّخْلِ ؟ فَقَالَ : نُهِيَ عَنْ بَيْعِ النَّخْلِ حَتَّى يَصْلُحَ ، وَعَنْ بَيْعِ الْوَرِقِ نَسَاءً بِنَاجِزٍ ، وَسَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ السَّلَمِ فِي النَّخْلِ ؟ فَقَالَ : نَهَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ بَيْعِ النَّخْلِ حَتَّى يُؤْكَلَ مِنْهُ ، أَوْ يَأْكُلَ مِنْهُ وَحَتَّى يُوزَنَ .
ہم سے ابوالولید نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے شعبہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے عمرو نے، ان سے ابوالبختری نے بیان کیا کہ   میں نے ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے کھجور میں جب کہ وہ درخت پر لگی ہوئی ہو بیع سلم کے متعلق پوچھا، تو انہوں نے کہا کہ جب تک وہ کسی قابل نہ ہو جائے اس کی بیع سے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے منع فرمایا ہے۔ اسی طرح چاندی کو ادھار، نقد کے بدلے بیچنے سے منع فرمایا۔ پھر میں نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے کھجور کی درخت پر بیع سلم کے متعلق پوچھا تو آپ نے بھی یہی کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس وقت تک کھجور کی بیع سے منع فرمایا تھا جب تک وہ کھائی نہ جا سکے یا ( یہ فرمایا کہ ) جب تک وہ اس قابل نہ ہو جائے کہ اسے کوئی کھا سکے اور جب تک وہ تولنے کے قابل نہ ہو جائے۔

The Prophet said (to them), Buy fruits by paying their prices in advance on condition that the fruits are to be delivered to you according to a fixed specified measure within a fixed specified period.
