Narrated Sa`id bin Abu Al-Hasan: While I was with Ibn `Abbas a man came and said, O father of `Abbas! My sustenance is from my manual profession and I make these pictures. Ibn `Abbas said, I will tell you only what I heard from Allah's Apostle . I heard him saying, 'Whoever makes a picture will be punished by Allah till he puts life in it, and he will never be able to put life in it.' Hearing this, that man heaved a sigh and his face turned pale. Ibn `Abbas said to him, What a pity! If you insist on making pictures I advise you to make pictures of trees and any other unanimated objects.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَوْفٌ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، إِذْ أَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَبَا عَبَّاسٍ ، إِنِّي إِنْسَانٌ ، إِنَّمَا مَعِيشَتِي مِنْ صَنْعَةِ يَدِي ، وَإِنِّي أَصْنَعُ هَذِهِ التَّصَاوِيرَ ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : لَا أُحَدِّثُكَ إِلَّا مَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ ، سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : مَنْ صَوَّرَ صُورَةً فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ مُعَذِّبُهُ حَتَّى يَنْفُخَ فِيهَا الرُّوحَ ، وَلَيْسَ بِنَافِخٍ فِيهَا أَبَدًا ، فَرَبَا الرَّجُلُ رَبْوَةً شَدِيدَةً وَاصْفَرَّ وَجْهُهُ ، فَقَالَ : وَيْحَكَ إِنْ أَبَيْتَ إِلَّا أَنْ تَصْنَعَ ، فَعَلَيْكَ بِهَذَا الشَّجَرِ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ لَيْسَ فِيهِ رُوحٌ ، قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد اللَّهِ : سَمِعَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، مِنْ النَّضْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ هَذَا الْوَاحِدَ .

ہم سے عبداللہ بن عبدالوہاب نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے یزید بن زریع نے بیان کیا، انہیں عوف بن ابی حمید نے خبر دی، انہیں سعید بن ابی حسن نے، کہا کہ میں ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کی خدمت میں حاضر تھا کہ ایک شخص ان کے پاس آیا، اور کہا کہ اے ابوعباس! میں ان لوگوں میں سے ہوں، جن کی روزی اپنے ہاتھ کی صنعت پر موقوف ہے اور میں یہ مورتیں بناتا ہوں۔ ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے اس پر فرمایا کہ میں تمہیں صرف وہی بات بتلاؤں گا جو میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سنی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ میں نے آپ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا تھا کہ جس نے بھی کوئی مورت بنائی تو اللہ تعالیٰ اسے اس وقت تک عذاب کرتا رہے گا جب تک وہ شخص اپنی مورت میں جان نہ ڈال دے اور وہ کبھی اس میں جان نہیں ڈال سکتا ( یہ سن کر ) اس شخص کا سانس چڑھ گیا اور چہرہ زرد پڑ گیا۔ ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا کہ افسوس! اگر تم مورتیں بنانی ہی چاہتے ہو تو ان درختوں کی اور ہر اس چیز کی جس میں جان نہیں ہے مورتیں بنا سکتے ہو۔ ابوعبداللہ ( امام بخاری رحمہ اللہ ) نے کہا کہ سعید بن ابی عروبہ نے نضر بن انس سے صرف یہی ایک حدیث سنی ہے۔

Narrated `Aisha: When the last verses of Surat-al-Baqara were revealed, the Prophet went out (of his house to the Mosque) and said, The trade of alcohol has become illegal.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, Allah says, 'I will be against three persons on the Day of Resurrection: -1. One who makes a covenant in My Name, but he proves treacherous. -2. One who sells a free person (as a slave) and eats the price, -3. And one who employs a laborer and gets the full work done by him but does not pay him his wages.'

Narrated Anas: Amongst the captives was Safiya. First she was given to Dihya Al-Kalbi and then to the Prophet.

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: that while he was sitting with Allah's Apostle he said, O Allah's Apostle! We get female captives as our share of booty, and we are interested in their prices, what is your opinion about coitus interrupt us? The Prophet said, Do you really do that? It is better for you not to do it. No soul that which Allah has destined to exist, but will surely come into existence.
