Narrated Nafi`: Ibn `Umar said, The Prophet made incumbent on every male or female, free man or slave, the payment of one Sa' of dates or barley as Sadaqat-ul-Fitr (or said Sadaqa-Ramadan). The people then substituted half Sa' of wheat for that. Ibn `Umar used to give dates (as Sadaqat-ul-Fitr). Once there was scarcity of dates in Medina and Ibn `Umar gave barley. 'And Ibn `Umar used to give Sadaqat-ul- Fitr for every young and old person. He even used to give on behalf of my children. Ibn `Umar used to give Sadaqat-ul-Fitr to those who had been officially appointed for its collection. People used to give Sadaqat-ul-Fitr (even) a day or two before the `Id.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : فَرَضَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَدَقَةَ الْفِطْرِ أَوْ قَالَ : رَمَضَانَ عَلَى الذَّكَرِ وَالْأُنْثَى وَالْحُرِّ وَالْمَمْلُوكِ صَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ ، فَعَدَلَ النَّاسُ بِهِ نِصْفَ صَاعٍ مِنْ بُرٍّ ، فَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا يُعْطِي التَّمْرَ فَأَعْوَزَ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ مِنَ التَّمْرِ فَأَعْطَى شَعِيرًا ، فَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يُعْطِي عَنِ الصَّغِيرِ , وَالْكَبِيرِ حَتَّى إِنْ كَانَ لِيُعْطِي عَنْ بَنِيَّ ، وَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا يُعْطِيهَا الَّذِينَ يَقْبَلُونَهَا ، وَكَانُوا يُعْطُونَ قَبْلَ الْفِطْرِ بِيَوْمٍ أَوْ يَوْمَيْنِ . قال ابوعبدالله بني يعني بني نافع قال کانوا يعطون ليجمع لاللفقراء .

ہم سے ابوالنعمان نے بیان کیا ‘ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے حماد بن زید نے بیان کیا ‘ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے ایوب نے بیان کیا ‘ ان سے نافع نے بیان کیا اور ان سے عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے صدقہ فطر یا یہ کہا کہ صدقہ رمضان مرد، عورت، آزاد اور غلام ( سب پر ) ایک صاع کھجور یا ایک صاع جَو فرض قرار دیا تھا۔ پھر لوگوں نے آدھا صاع گیہوں اس کے برابر قرار دے لیا۔ لیکن ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کھجور دیا کرتے تھے۔ ایک مرتبہ مدینہ میں کھجور کا قحط پڑا تو آپ نے جو صدقہ میں نکالا۔ ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما چھوٹے بڑے سب کی طرف سے یہاں تک کہ میرے بیٹوں کی طرف سے بھی صدقہ فطر نکالتے تھے۔ ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما صدقہ فطر ہر فقیر کو جو اسے قبول کرتا، دے دیا کرتے تھے۔ اور لوگ صدقہ فطر ایک یا دو دن پہلے ہی دے دیا کرتے تھے۔ امام بخاری رحمہ اللہ نے کہا میرے بیٹوں سے نافع کے بیٹے مراد ہیں۔ امام بخاری رحمہ اللہ نے کہا وہ عید سے پہلے جو صدقہ دے دیتے تھے تو اکٹھا ہونے کے لیے نہ فقیروں کے لیے ( پھر وہ جمع کر کے فقراء میں تقسیم کر دیا جاتا ) ۔

Narrated Ibn `Umar: Allah's Apostle has made Sadaqat-ul-Fitr obligatory, (and it was), either one Sa' of barley or one Sa' of dates (and its payment was obligatory) on young and old people, and on free men as well as on slaves.

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Abbas: Al-Fadl (his brother) was riding behind Allah's Apostle and a woman from the tribe of Khath'am came and Al-Fadl started looking at her and she started looking at him. The Prophet turned Al-Fadl's face to the other side. The woman said, O Allah's Apostle! The obligation of Hajj enjoined by Allah on His devotees has become due on my father and he is old and weak, and he cannot sit firm on the Mount; may I perform Hajj on his behalf? The Prophet replied, Yes, you may. That happened during the Hajj-al-Wida (of the Prophet ).

Narrated Ibn `Umar: I saw that Allah's Apostle used to ride on his Mount at Dhul Hulaifa and used to start saying, Labbaik when the Mount stood upright.

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah: that Allah's Apostle started saying, Labbaik from Dhul-Hulaifa when his Mount stood upright carrying him .

Narrated 'Aishah: The Prophet (saws) sent my brother, 'Abdur Rahman with me to Tan'im for the 'Umra, and he made me ride on the packsaddle (of a camel). 'Umar said, Be ready to travel for Hajj as it (Hajj) is one of the two kind of Jihad .

Narrated Thumama bin `Abdullah bin Anas: Anas performed the Hajj on a packsaddle and he was not a miser. Anas said, Allah's Apostle performed Hajj on a packsaddle and the same Mount was carrying his baggage too.
