Narrated Sa`d (bin Abi Waqqas): Allah's Apostle distributed something (from the resources of Zakat) amongst a group of people while I was sitting amongst them, but he left a man whom I considered the best of the lot. So, I went up to Allah's Apostle and asked him secretly, Why have you left that person? By Allah! I consider him a believer. The Prophet said, Or merely a Muslim (Who surrender to Allah). I remained quiet for a while but could not help repeating my question because of what I knew about him. I said, O Allah's Apostle! Why have you left that person? By Allah! I consider him a believer. The Prophet said, Or merely a Muslim. I remained quiet for a while but could not help repeating my question because of what I knew about him. I said, O Allah's Apostle! Why have you left that person? By Allah! I consider him a believer. The Prophet said, Or merely a Muslim. Then Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) said, I give to a person while another is dearer to me, for fear that he may be thrown in the Hell-fire on his face (by reneging from Islam).

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ غُرَيْرٍ الزُّهْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَامِرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : أَعْطَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَهْطًا وَأَنَا جَالِسٌ فِيهِمْ ، قَالَ : فَتَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْهُمْ رَجُلًا لَمْ يُعْطِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْجَبُهُمْ إِلَيَّ ، فَقُمْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَارَرْتُهُ ، فَقُلْتُ : مَا لَكَ عَنْ فُلَانٍ ، وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَاهُ مُؤْمِنًا , قَالَ أَوْ مُسْلِمًا ؟ , قَالَ : فَسَكَتُّ قَلِيلًا ، ثُمَّ غَلَبَنِي مَا أَعْلَمُ فِيهِ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا لَكَ عَنْ فُلَانٍ ، وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَاهُ مُؤْمِنًا , قَالَ أَوْ مُسْلِمًا ؟ , قَالَ : فَسَكَتُّ قَلِيلًا ، ثُمَّ غَلَبَنِي مَا أَعْلَمُ فِيهِ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا لَكَ عَنْ فُلَانٍ ، وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَاهُ مُؤْمِنًا قَالَ أَوْ مُسْلِمًا يَعْنِي ؟ ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي لَأُعْطِي الرَّجُلَ وَغَيْرُهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْهُ خَشْيَةَ أَنْ يُكَبَّ فِي النَّارِ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ ، وَعَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ بِهَذَا ، فَقَالَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : فَضَرَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ فَجَمَعَ بَيْنَ عُنُقِي وَكَتِفِي ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : أَقْبِلْ أَيْ سَعْدُ إِنِّي لَأُعْطِي الرَّجُلَ ، قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد اللَّهِ : فَكُبْكِبُوا قُلِبُوا فَكُبُّوا مُكِبًّا ، أَكَبَّ الرَّجُلُ إِذَا كَانَ فِعْلُهُ غَيْرَ وَاقِعٍ عَلَى أَحَدٍ ، فَإِذَا وَقَعَ الْفِعْلُ ، قُلْتَ : كَبَّهُ اللَّهُ لِوَجْهِهِ وَكَبَبْتُهُ أَنَا .

ہم سے محمد بن غریر زہری نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا کہ ہم سے یعقوب بن ابراہیم نے اپنے باپ سے بیان کیا ‘ ان سے صالح بن کیسان نے ان سے ابن شہاب نے ‘ انہوں نے کہا کہ مجھے عامر بن سعد بن ابی وقاص نے اپنے باپ سعد بن ابی وقاص سے خبر دی۔ انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے چند اشخاص کو کچھ مال دیا۔ اسی جگہ میں بھی بیٹھا ہوا تھا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کے ساتھ ہی بیٹھے ہوئے شخص کو چھوڑ دیا اور انہیں کچھ نہیں دیا۔ حالانکہ ان لوگوں میں وہی مجھے زیادہ پسند تھا۔ آخر میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے قریب جا کر چپکے سے عرض کیا ‘ فلاں شخص کو آپ نے کچھ بھی نہیں دیا؟ واللہ میں اسے مومن خیال کرتا ہوں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ‘ یا مسلمان؟ انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ اس پر میں تھوڑی دیر تک خاموش رہا۔ لیکن میں ان کے متعلق جو کچھ جانتا تھا اس نے مجھے مجبور کیا ‘ اور میں نے عرض کیا ‘ یا رسول اللہ! آپ فلاں شخص سے کیوں خفا ہیں ‘ واللہ! میں اسے مومن سمجھتا ہوں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ‘ یا مسلمان؟ تین مرتبہ ایسا ہی ہوا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ ایک شخص کو دیتا ہوں ( اور دوسرے کو نظر انداز کر جاتا ہوں ) حالانکہ وہ دوسرا میری نظر میں پہلے سے زیادہ پیارا ہوتا ہے۔ کیونکہ ( جس کو میں دیتا ہوں نہ دینے کی صورت میں ) مجھے ڈر اس بات کا رہتا ہے کہ کہیں اسے چہرے کے بل گھسیٹ کر جہنم میں نہ ڈال دیا جائے۔ اور ( یعقوب بن ابراہیم ) اپنے والد سے ‘ وہ صالح سے ‘ وہ اسماعیل بن محمد سے ‘ انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ میں نے اپنے والد سے سنا کہ وہ یہی حدیث بیان کر رہے تھے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پھر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنا ہاتھ میری گردن اور مونڈھے کے بیچ میں مارا۔ اور فرمایا۔ سعد! ادھر سنو۔ میں ایک شخص کو دیتا ہوں۔ آخر حدیث تک۔ ابوعبداللہ ( امام بخاری رحمہ اللہ ) نے کہا کہ ( قرآن مجید میں لفظ ) «كبكبوا‏» اوندھے لٹا دینے کے معنی میں ہے۔ اور سورۃ الملک میں جو «مكبا‏» کا لفظ ہے وہ «أكب» سے نکلا ہے۔ «أكب» لازم ہے یعنی اوندھا گرا۔ اور اس کا متعدی «كب» ہے۔ کہتے ہیں کہ «كبه الله لوجهه» یعنی اللہ نے اسے اوندھے منہ گرا دیا۔ اور «كببته» یعنی میں نے اس کو اوندھا گرایا۔ امام بخاری رحمہ اللہ نے کہا صالح بن کیسان عمر میں زہری سے بڑے تھے وہ عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے ملے ہیں۔

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, The poor person is not the one who goes round the people and ask them for a mouthful or two (of meals) or a date or two but the poor is that who has not enough (money) to satisfy his needs and whose condition is not known to others, that others may give him something in charity, and who does not beg of people.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, No doubt, it is better for a person to take a rope and proceed in the morning to the mountains and cut the wood and then sell it, and eat from this income and give alms from it than to ask others for something.

Narrated Abu Humaid As-Sa`idi: We took part in the holy battle of Tabuk in the company of the Prophet and when we arrived at the Wadi-al-Qura, there was a woman in her garden. The Prophet asked his companions to estimate the amount of the fruits in the garden, and Allah's Apostle estimated it at ten Awsuq (One Wasaq = 60 Sa's) and 1 Sa'= 3 kg. approximately). The Prophet said to that lady, Check what your garden will yield. When we reached Tabuk, the Prophet said, There will be a strong wind tonight and so no one should stand and whoever has a camel, should fasten it. So we fastened our camels. A strong wind blew at night and a man stood up and he was blown away to a mountain called Taiy, The King of Aila sent a white mule and a sheet for wearing to the Prophet as a present, and wrote to the Prophet that his people would stay in their place (and will pay Jizya taxation.) (1) When the Prophet reached Wadi-al- Qura he asked that woman how much her garden had yielded. She said, Ten Awsuq, and that was what Allah's Apostle had estimated. Then the Prophet said, I want to reach Medina quickly, and whoever among you wants to accompany me, should hurry up. The sub-narrator Ibn Bakkar said something which meant: When the Prophet (p.b.u.h) saw Medina he said, This is Taba. And when he saw the mountain of Uhud, he said, This mountain loves us and we love it. Shall I tell you of the best amongst the Ansar? They replied in the affirmative. He said, The family of Bani-n-Najjar, and then the family of Bani Sa`ida or Bani Al-Harith bin Al-Khazraj. (The above-mentioned are the best) but there is goodness in all the families of Ansar.

Narrated Salim bin `Abdullah from his father: The Prophet said, On a land irrigated by rain water or by natural water channels or if the land is wet due to a near by water channel Ushr (i.e. one-tenth) is compulsory (as Zakat); and on the land irrigated by the well, half of an Ushr (i.e. one-twentieth) is compulsory (as Zakat on the yield of the land).

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: The Prophet said, There is no Zakat on less than five Awsuq (of dates), or on less than five camels, or on less than five Awaq of silver. (22 Yemeni Riyals Faransa).
