Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Allah's Apostle passed by a grave of a deceased who had been buried at night. He said, When was this (deceased) buried? The people said, Yesterday. He said, Why did you not inform me? They said, We buried him when it was dark and so we disliked to wake you up. He stood up and we lined up behind him. (Ibn `Abbas said): I was one of them, and the Prophet offered the funeral prayer.

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الشَّيْبَانِيُّ ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِقَبْرٍ قَدْ دُفِنَ لَيْلًا , فَقَالَ : مَتَى دُفِنَ هَذَا ؟ , قَالُوا : الْبَارِحَةَ ، قَالَ : أَفَلَا آذَنْتُمُونِي ؟ , قَالُوا : دَفَنَّاهُ فِي ظُلْمَةِ اللَّيْلِ فَكَرِهْنَا أَنْ نُوقِظَكَ ، فَقَامَ فَصَفَفْنَا خَلْفَهُ ، قَالَ : ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ وَأَنَا فِيهِمْ ، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ .

ہم سے موسیٰ ابن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا کہ ہم سے عبدالواحد نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا کہ ہم سے شیبانی نے بیان کیا ‘ ان سے عامر نے اور ان سے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا گزر ایک قبر پر ہوا۔ میت کو ابھی رات ہی دفنایا گیا تھا۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دریافت فرمایا کہ دفن کب کیا گیا ہے؟ لوگوں نے کہا کہ گذشتہ رات۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ مجھے کیوں نہیں اطلاع کرائی؟ لوگوں نے عرض کیا کہ اندھیری رات میں دفن کیا گیا ‘ اس لیے ہم نے آپ کو جگانا مناسب نہ سمجھا۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہو گئے اور ہم نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پیچھے صفیں بنا لیں۔ ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ میں بھی انہیں میں تھا ( نابالغ تھا لیکن ) نماز جنازہ میں شرکت کی۔

Narrated Ash-Shaibani: Ash-Shu`bi said, Somebody who passed along with your Prophet (p.b.u.h) by a grave that was separate from the other graves informed me (saying), The Prophet led us (in the prayer) and we aligned behind him. We said, O Abu `Amr! Who told you this narration? He replied, Ibn `Abbas.

Narrated Nafi`: Ibn `Umar was told that Abu Huraira said, Whoever accompanies the funeral procession will have a reward equal to one Qirat. Ibn `Umar said, Abu Huraira talks of a too enormous reward.

Aisha attested Abu Huraira's narration and said, I heard Allah's Apostle saying like that. Ibn `Umar said, We have lost numerous Qirats.

Narrated Abu Huraira: that Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) said, Whoever attends the funeral procession till he offers the funeral prayer for it, will get a reward equal to one Qirat, and whoever accompanies it till burial, will get a reward equal to two Qirats. It was asked, What are two Qirats? He replied, Like two huge mountains.

Narrated 'Amir: Ibn `Abbas (who was at that time a boy) said, Allah's Apostle came to a grave and the people said, 'He or she was buried yesterday.' Ibn `Abbas added, We aligned behind the Prophet and he led the funeral prayer of the deceased.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle informed about the news of the death of An-Najash (King of Ethiopia) on the day he expired. He said, Ask Allah's forgiveness for your brother.
