Narrated Abu-Wail: `Abdullah said, One night I offered the Tahajjud prayer with the Prophet and he kept on standing till an ill-thought came to me. We said, What was the ill-thought? He said, It was to sit down and leave the Prophet (standing).
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ , قَالَ : صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةً فَلَمْ يَزَلْ قَائِمًا حَتَّى هَمَمْتُ بِأَمْرِ سَوْءٍ ، قُلْنَا : وَمَا هَمَمْتَ ، قَالَ : هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَقْعُدَ وَأَذَرَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
ہم سے سلیمان بن حرب نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے شعبہ نے اعمش سے بیان کیا، ان سے ابووائل نے اور ان سے عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا کہ   میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ ایک مرتبہ رات کو نماز پڑھی۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اتنا لمبا قیام کیا کہ میرے دل میں ایک غلط خیال پیدا ہو گیا۔ ہم نے پوچھا کہ وہ غلط خیال کیا تھا تو آپ نے بتایا کہ میں نے سوچا کہ بیٹھ جاؤں اور نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا ساتھ چھوڑ دوں۔
