Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The prostration of Sa`d is not a compulsory one but I saw the Prophet prostrating while reciting it.

حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَأَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : ص لَيْسَ مِنْ عَزَائِمِ السُّجُودِ ، وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْجُدُ فِيهَا .

ہم سے سلیمان بن حرب اور ابوالنعمان بن فضل نے بیان کیا، ان دونوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے حماد بن زید نے بیان کیا، ان سے ایوب نے بیان کیا، ان سے عکرمہ نے بیان کیا اور ان سے عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا کہ سورۃ ص کا سجدہ کچھ تاکیدی سجدوں میں سے نہیں ہے اور میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو سجدہ کرتے ہوئے دیکھا۔

Narrated `Abdullah bin Mas`ud: The Prophet recited Surat-an-Najm (53) and prostrated while reciting it and all the people prostrated and a man amongst the people took a handful of stones or earth and raised it to his face and said, This is sufficient for me. Later on I saw him killed as a non-believer.
