Ibn Umar narrated that: The Messenger of Allah said: A Muslim man has no right to spend two nights while he has something to will, except while his will is recorded with him.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا حَقُّ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ يَبِيتُ لَيْلَتَيْنِ وَلَهُ شَيْءٌ يُوصِي فِيهِ إِلَّا وَوَصِيَّتُهُ مَكْتُوبَةٌ عِنْدَهُ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عُمَرَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”ایک مسلمان، جس کی دو راتیں بھی اس حال میں گزریں کہ اس کے پاس وصیت کرنے کی کوئی چیز ہو، اس پر لازم ہے کہ اس کی وصیت اس کے پاس لکھی ہوئی ہو“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- ابن عمر رضی الله عنہما کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ابن ابی اوفی رضی الله عنہ سے بھی حدیث آئی ہے۔

Sa'd bin Malik said: The Messenger of Allah came to visit me while I was sick. He said: 'Do you have a will?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'For how much?' I said: 'All of my wealth, for the cause of Allah.' He said: 'What did you leave for your children?' He (Sa'd) said: They are rich in goodness.' He said: 'Will a tenth.' He (Sa'd) said: He (pbuh) continued decreasing it until he said: 'Will a third, and a third is too great.' (One of the narrators:) Abdur-Rahman said: We considered it recommended that it be less than a third, since the Messenger of Allah said: 'And a third is too great.'

Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri narrated that: The Prophet said: Instruct your dying to say: (La illaha illallah) 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah'

Umm Salamah narrated: The Messenger of Allah said to us: 'When you attend to the sick or dying then say only good, for indeed the angels say Amin to what you say.' She said: When Abu Salamah died I went to the Prophet and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Abu Salamah has died.' He said: 'Then say: O Allah forgive me and him, and give me a good replacement for him. She said: I said tat, and Allah gave a replace that was better than him: The Messenger of Allah.

Aishah narrated: I saw the Messenger of Allah while he was dying. He had a cup with water in it, he put his hand in the cup then wiped his face with the water, then said: 'O Allah! Help me with the throes of death and the agony of death.'
