Aishah narrated: Hafsah and I were both fasting when we were presented some food that we really wanted, so we ate from it. The Messenger of Allah came, and Hafsah beat me to him - she was the daughter of her father - and she said: 'O Messenger of Allah! We were both fasting when we were presented with some food that we wanted, so we ate from it.' He said: 'Make up another day in its place.'

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ بُرْقَانَ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ كُنْتُ أَنَا وَحَفْصَةُ صَائِمَتَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَعُرِضَ لَنَا طَعَامٌ اشْتَهَيْنَاهُ فَأَكَلْنَا مِنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَبَدَرَتْنِي إِلَيْهِ حَفْصَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَتِ ابْنَةَ أَبِيهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا كُنَّا صَائِمَتَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَعُرِضَ لَنَا طَعَامٌ اشْتَهَيْنَاهُ فَأَكَلْنَا مِنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اقْضِيَا يَوْمًا آخَرَ مَكَانَهُ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَرَوَى صَالِحُ بْنُ أَبِي الْأَخْضَرِ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَفْصَةَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ مِثْلَ هَذَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَوَاهُ مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَعْمَرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَزِيَادُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ مِنَ الْحُفَّاظِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ مُرْسَلًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يَذْكُرُوا فِيهِ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ لِأَنَّهُ رُوِيَ عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَأَلْتُ الزُّهْرِيَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ أَحَدَّثَكَ عُرْوَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَمْ أَسْمَعْ مِنْ عُرْوَةَ فِي هَذَا شَيْئًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَكِنِّي سَمِعْتُ فِي خِلَافَةِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ مِنْ نَاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ بَعْضِ مَنْ سَأَلَ عَائِشَةَ عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ. حَدَّثَنَا بِذَلِكَ94 عَلِيُّ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ. وَقَدْ ذَهَبَ قَوْمٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَغَيْرِهِمْ إِلَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَأَوْا عَلَيْهِ الْقَضَاءَ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ قَوْلُ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ.

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی الله عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ میں اور حفصہ دونوں روزے سے تھیں، ہمارے پاس کھانے کی ایک چیز آئی جس کی ہمیں رغبت ہوئی، تو ہم نے اس میں سے کھا لیا۔ اتنے میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم آ گئے، تو حفصہ مجھ سے سبقت کر گئیں - وہ اپنے باپ ہی کی بیٹی تو تھیں - انہوں نے پوچھا: اللہ کے رسول! ہم لوگ روزے سے تھے۔ ہمارے سامنے کھانا آ گیا، تو ہمیں اس کی خواہش ہوئی تو ہم نے اسے کھا لیا، آپ نے فرمایا: ”تم دونوں کسی اور دن اس کی قضاء کر لینا“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- صالح بن ابی اخضر اور محمد بن ابی حفصہ نے یہ حدیث بسند «زہری عن عروہ عن عائشہ» اسی کے مثل روایت کی ہے۔ اور اسے مالک بن انس، معمر، عبیداللہ بن عمر، زیاد بن سعد اور دوسرے کئی حفاظ نے بسند «الزہری عن عائشہ» مرسلاً روایت کی ہے اور ان لوگوں نے اس میں عروہ کے واسطے کا ذکر نہیں کیا ہے، اور یہی زیادہ صحیح ہے۔ اس لیے کہ ابن جریج سے مروی ہے کہ میں نے زہری سے پوچھا: کیا آپ سے اسے عروہ نے بیان کیا اور عروہ سے عائشہ نے روایت کی ہے؟ تو انہوں نے کہا: میں نے اس سلسلے میں عروہ سے کوئی چیز نہیں سنی ہے۔ میں نے سلیمان بن عبدالملک کے عہد خلافت میں بعض ایسے لوگوں سے سنا ہے جنہوں نے ایسے شخص سے روایت کی ہے جس نے اس حدیث کے بارے میں عائشہ سے پوچھا، ۲- صحابہ کرام وغیرہم میں سے اہل علم کی ایک جماعت اسی حدیث کی طرف گئی ہے۔ ان لوگوں کا کہنا ہے کہ کوئی نفل روزہ توڑ دے تو اس پر قضاء لازم ہے ۱؎ مالک بن انس کا یہی قول ہے۔

Aishah narrated: I could not find the Messenger of Allah one night. So I left and found him at Al-Baqi. He said: 'Did you fear that you had been wronged by Allah and His Messenger?' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! I thought that you had gone to one of your wives.' So he said: 'Indeed Allah, Mighty and Sublime is He, descends to the lowest Heavens during the night of the middle of Sha'ban, to grant forgiveness to more than the number of hairs on the sheep of (Banu) Kalb.'

Abu Hurairah narrated that : the Messenger of Allah said: The most virtuous fasting after the month of Ramadan is Allah's month Al-Muharram.

An-Nu'man bin Sa'd narrated: A man asked Ali: Which month do you order me to fast after the month of Ramadan?' He said to him, 'I have not heard anyone ask this except for a man whom I heard asking the Messenger of Allah while I was sitting with him. He said: O Messenger of Allah! Which month do you order me to fast after the month of Ramadan? He said: If you will fast after the month of Ramadan, then fast Al-Muharram, for indeed it is Allah's month in which there is a day that Allah accepted the repentance of a people, and in which He accepts the repentance of other people.
