Talq bin Ali narrated that : The Messenger of Allah said: Eat and drink, and do not be disturbed by the rising glow, eat and drink until the redness appears to you on the horizon.
حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مُلَازِمُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ طَلْقٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي طَلْقُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا وَلَا يَهِيدَنَّكُمُ السَّاطِعُ الْمُصْعِدُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّى يَعْتَرِضَ لَكُمُ الْأَحْمَرُ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي ذَرٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَسَمُرَةَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ طَلْقِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ. وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ لَا يَحْرُمُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ الْأَكْلُ وَالشُّرْبُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ الْفَجْرُ الْأَحْمَرُ الْمُعْتَرِضُ. وَبِهِ يَقُولُ عَامَّةُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ.
قیس بن طلق کہتے ہیں کہ   مجھ سے میرے باپ طلق بن علی رضی الله عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”کھاؤ پیو، تمہیں کھانے پینے سے چمکتی اور چڑھتی ہوئی صبح یعنی صبح کاذب نہ روکے ۱؎ کھاتے پیتے رہو، یہاں تک کہ سرخی تمہارے چوڑان میں ہو جائے“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- طلق بن علی رضی الله عنہ کی حدیث اس سند سے حسن غریب ہے، ۲- اس باب میں عدی بن حاتم، ابوذر اور سمرہ رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- اسی پر اہل علم کا عمل ہے کہ صائم پر کھانا پینا حرام نہیں ہوتا جب تک کہ فجر کی سرخ چوڑی روشنی نمودار نہ ہو جائے، اور یہی اکثر اہل علم کا قول ہے۔

Jabir bin Abdullah narrated: The Messenger of Allah went to Makkah in the Year of the Conquest, so he fasted until he reached Kura Al-Ghamim and the people were fasting with him. Then it was said to him: 'The fast has become difficult for the people, and they are watching you to see what you will do.' So after Asr, he called for a cup of water and drank it while the people were looking at him. Some of them broke the fast while some of them continued their fasting. It was conveyed to him that people were still fasting, so he said: Those are the disobedient.'
