Abu Hurairah narrated: A man asked Allah's Messenger 'O Messenger of Allah! We sail the seas, and we only carry a little water with us. If we use it for Wudu then we will go thirsty. So shall we perform Wudu from the (water of the) sea?' Allah's Messenger said: 'Its water is pure, and its dead are lawful.'
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ. ح وحَدَّثَنَا الْأَنْصَارِيُّ إِسْحَاق بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ مِنْ آلِ ابْنِ الْأَزْرَقِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ وَهُوَ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ أَخْبَرَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا نَرْكَبُ الْبَحْرَ وَنَحْمِلُ مَعَنَا الْقَلِيلَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ تَوَضَّأْنَا بِهِ عَطِشْنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَفَنَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ مَاءِ الْبَحْرِ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ هُوَ الطَّهُورُ مَاؤُهُ الْحِلُّ مَيْتَتُهُ . قال:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ جَابِرٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَالْفِرَاسِيِّ. قال أبو عيسى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَكْثَرِ الْفُقَهَاءِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِنْهُمْ أَبُو بَكْرٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَعُمَرُ،‏‏‏‏ وَابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ لَمْ يَرَوْا بَأْسًا بِمَاءِ الْبَحْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ كَرِهَ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْوُضُوءَ بِمَاءِ الْبَحْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِنْهُمْ ابْنُ عُمَرَ،‏‏‏‏ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو:‏‏‏‏ هُوَ نَارٌ.
ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ایک آدمی نے رسول اللہ صلی الله علیہ وسلم سے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! ہم سمندر کا سفر کرتے ہیں اور اپنے ساتھ تھوڑا پانی لے جاتے ہیں، اگر ہم اس سے وضو کر لیں تو پیاسے رہ جائیں گے، تو کیا ایسی صورت میں ہم سمندر کے پانی سے وضو کر سکتے ہیں؟ رسول اللہ صلی الله علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”سمندر کا پانی پاک ۱؎ ہے، اور اس کا مردار حلال ہے“ ۲؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں جابر بن عبداللہ اور فراسی رضی الله عنہم سے بھی روایت ہے، ۳- اور یہی صحابہ کرام رضی الله عنہم میں سے اکثر فقہاء کا قول ہے جن میں ابوبکر، عمر اور ابن عباس بھی ہیں کہ سمندر کے پانی سے وضو کرنے میں کوئی حرج نہیں، بعض صحابہ کرام نے سمندر کے پانی سے وضو کو مکروہ جانا ہے، انہیں میں ابن عمر اور عبداللہ بن عمرو ہیں عبداللہ بن عمرو کا کہنا ہے کہ سمندر کا پانی آگ ہے۔

Ibn Abbas narrated: The Prophet passed by two graves. He said: 'These two are being punished. And they are not being punished for something major. As for this one, he would not protect himself from his urine. As for this one, he used to spread Namimah (slander).'

Anas narrated: Some people from Urainah arrived in Al-Madinah, and they were uncomfortable (and ill from the climate). So Allah's Messenger sent them some camels from charity. He told them: Drink from their milk and urine. So they killed the camel driver that Allah's Messenger sent, and they violently drove off the camels, and apostatized from Islam. So the Prophet came to them, he cut off their hands and feet on opposite side, and branded their eyes, and threw them in Al-Harrah. Anas said, So I saw one of them working over the ground with his mouth, until they died.

Anas bin Malik narrated: Allah's Messenger only poked out their eyes because they had poked out the eyes of the camel driver. Abu 'Eisa said: This Hadfth is Gharib. We do not know anyone who mentioned it other than this shaikh, from Yazid bin Zurai. And it is in accordance with the meaning of Allah's saying: And wounds equal for equal It has been reported that Muhammad bin Sirin said: The Prophet only did this to them before the legislated punishments were revealed.
