Ali narrated that : the Prophet said to Umar: We have taken this year's Zakat from Al-Abbas in the previous year.

حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ الْكُوفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ جَحْلٍ، عَنْ حُجْرٍ الْعَدَوِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِعُمَرَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّا قَدْ أَخَذْنَا زَكَاةَ الْعَبَّاسِ عَامَ الْأَوَّلِ لِلْعَامِ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ لَا أَعْرِفُ حَدِيثَ تَعْجِيلِ الزَّكَاةِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ إِسْرَائِيلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَحَدِيثُ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْحَجَّاجِ عِنْدِي أَصَحُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ إِسْرَائِيلَ عَنْ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عُتَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُرْسَلًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدِ اخْتَلَفَ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ فِي تَعْجِيلِ الزَّكَاةِ قَبْلَ مَحِلِّهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَأَى طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ أَنْ لَا يُعَجِّلَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبِهِ يَقُولُ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ أَنْ لَا يُعَجِّلَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ إِنْ عَجَّلَهَا قَبْلَ مَحِلِّهَا أَجْزَأَتْ عَنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبِهِ يَقُولُ الشَّافِعِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَحْمَدُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِسْحَاق.

علی رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے عمر رضی الله عنہ سے فرمایا: ”ہم عباس سے اس سال کی زکاۃ گزشتہ سال ہی لے چکے ہیں“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- اس باب میں ابن عباس رضی الله عنہما سے بھی روایت ہے، ۲- اسرائیل کی پہلے زکاۃ نکالنے والی حدیث کو جسے انہوں نے حجاج بن دینار سے روایت کی ہے ہم صرف اسی طریق سے جانتے ہیں، ۳- اسماعیل بن زکریا کی حدیث جسے انہوں نے حجاج سے روایت کی ہے میرے نزدیک اسرائیل کی حدیث سے جسے انہوں نے حجاج بن دینار سے روایت کی ہے زیادہ صحیح ہے، ۴- نیز یہ حدیث حکم بن عتیبہ سے بھی مروی ہے انہوں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے مرسلاً روایت کی ہے، ۵- اہل علم کا وقت سے پہلے پیشگی زکاۃ دینے میں اختلاف ہے، اہل علم میں سے ایک جماعت کی رائے ہے کہ اسے پیشگی ادا نہ کرے، سفیان ثوری اسی کے قائل ہیں، وہ کہتے ہیں: کہ میرے نزدیک زیادہ پسندیدہ یہی ہے کہ اسے پیشگی ادا نہ کرے، اور اکثر اہل علم کا کہنا ہے کہ اگر وقت سے پہلے پیشگی ادا کر دے تو جائز ہے۔ شافعی، احمد اور اسحاق بن راہویہ اسی کے قائل ہیں ۱؎۔

Abu Hurairah narrated that he heard : the Messenger of Allah saying: For one of you to go out early to gather firewood and carry it on his back so that he can give charity from it and be free of need from the people, is better for him than to ask a man who may give that to him or refuse. Indeed the upper hand (giving) is more virtuous than the lower hand (receiving), and begin with (those who are) your dependants.

Samurah bin Jundub narrated that : the Messenger of Allah said: Asking is a labor that toils on a man's face, except if a man asks for something from the Sultan (ruler), or he asks for something that he cannot do without.

Abu Hurairah narrated that : the Messenger of Allah said: On the first night of the month of Ramadan, the Shayatin are shackled, the jinns are restrained, the gates of the Fires are shut such that no gate among them would be opened. The gates of Paradise are opened such that no gate among them would be closed, and a caller calls: 'O seeker of the good; come near!' and 'O seeker of evil; stop! For there are those whom Allah frees from the Fire.' And that is every night.

Abu Hurairah narrated that : the Messenger of Allah said: Whoever fasts Ramadan and stands (in the night prayer) for it out of faith and seeking a reward (from Allah), he will be forgiven what preceded of his sins. Whoever stands (in the night prayer) on the Night of Al-Qadr out of faith and seeking a reward (from Allah), he will be forgiven what preceded of his sins.

Abu Hurairah narrated that : the Prophet said: Do not precede the month with a day nor with two days, unless that fast falls on a day that one of you would have (normally) fasted. Fast with its sighting and break fast with its sighting, and if it is cloudy, then count for thirty days, and then break (the fast).

Abu Hurairah narrated that : the Messenger of Allah said: Do no precede the month of Ramadan by fasting a day or two before it, unless it is the case of a man who normally performs some fast, then let him fast it.
