Narrated Ibn Abi Mulaikah: from 'Aishah, that the Prophet (ﷺ) saw a lamp in the house of Az-Zubair, so he said: O 'Aishah, I do not think except that Asma has given birth, so do not name him until I should name him. So he named him 'Abdullah, and he (performed Tahnik) with a date that was in his hand.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُؤَمَّلِ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى فِي بَيْتِ الزُّبَيْرِ مِصْبَاحًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا عَائِشَةُ مَا أُرَى أَسْمَاءَ إِلَّا قَدْ نُفِسَتْ،‏‏‏‏ فَلَا تُسَمُّوهُ حَتَّى أُسَمِّيَهُ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَسَمَّاهُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ وَحَنَّكَهُ بِتَمْرَةٍ بِيَدِهِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ.

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی الله عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ( خواب میں ) زبیر کے گھر میں ایک چراغ دیکھا تو آپ نے عائشہ رضی الله عنہا سے فرمایا: ”عائشہ! میں یہی سمجھا ہوں کہ اسماء کے یہاں ولادت ہونے والی ہے، تو اس کا نام تم لوگ نہ رکھنا، میں رکھوں گا“، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کا نام عبداللہ رکھا، اور اپنے ہاتھ سے ایک کھجور کے ذریعہ ان کی تحنیک کی ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن غریب ہے۔

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) passed by, so my mother, Umm Sulaim, heard his voice and said: 'May my father and mother be ransomed for you, O Messenger of Allah. This is Unais.' So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) supplicated for me with three supplications, and I have seem two of them in the world, and I hope for the third in the Hereafter.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: that the Prophet (ﷺ) said to him: O possessor of two ears! (One of the narrators) Abu Usamah said: 'He only meant it as a joke.'

Narrated Anas bin Malik: from Umm Sulaim, that she said: O Messenger of Allah, Anas bin Malik is your servant, supplicate to Allah for him. He said: O Allah, increase his wealth and his children, and bless him in what You have given him.

Narrated Anas [may Allah be pleased with him]: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave me my Kunyah because of a plant that I used to care for.

Narrated Thabit Al-Bunani: Anas bin Malik said to me: 'O Thabit, take from me, for indeed you shall not take from one more trustworthy than me. Verily, I took it from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) took it from Jibra'il, and Jibra'il took it from Allah the Mighty and Sublime.'
