Narrated Hudhaifah bin Al-Yaman: that Al-'Aqib and As-Sayyid (two of the leaders of the Christians of Najran) came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: Send us your trustworthy one. He said: I shall send with you a trustworthy one who is truly a trustworthy one. So the people desired that, and he sent Abu 'Ubaidah, may Allah be pleased with him.

حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنْ صِلَةَ بْنِ زُفَرَ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ جَاءَ الْعَاقِبُ،‏‏‏‏ وَالسَّيِّدُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَا:‏‏‏‏ ابْعَثْ مَعَنَا أَمِينًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَإِنِّي سَأَبْعَثُ مَعَكُمْ أَمِينًا حَقَّ أَمِينٍ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَشْرَفَ لَهَا النَّاسُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَبَعَثَ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ الْجَرَّاحِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ. قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَكَانَ أَبُو إِسْحَاق إِذَا حَدَّثَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عَنْ صِلَةَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُهُ مُنْذُ سِتِّينَ سَنَةً. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَمِينٌ وَأَمِينُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ .

حذیفہ بن یمان رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک قوم کا نائب اور سردار دونوں نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آئے اور دونوں نے عرض کیا: ہمارے ساتھ آپ اپنا کوئی امین روانہ فرمائیں، تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”میں تمہارے ساتھ ایک ایسا امین بھیجوں گا جو حق امانت بخوبی ادا کرے گا“، تو اس کے لیے لوگوں کی نظریں اٹھ گئیں اور پھر آپ نے ابوعبیدہ بن جراح رضی الله عنہ کو روانہ فرمایا۔ راوی حدیث ابواسحاق سبیعی کہتے ہیں: جب وہ اس حدیث کو صلہ سے روایت کرتے تو کہتے ساٹھ سال ہوئے یہ حدیث میں نے ان سے سنی تھی۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- یہ حدیث ابن عمر اور انس رضی الله عنہما کے واسطے سے بھی نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے آئی ہے، آپ نے فرمایا: ”ہر امت کا ایک امین ہوتا ہے اور اس امت کے امین ابوعبیدہ بن جراح ہیں“۔

Narrated Anas bin Malik: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Indeed, Paradise longs for three: 'Ali, 'Ammar, and Salman.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: There is no one more truthful, that the sky has shaded and the earth has carried, than Abu Dharr.

Narrated Abu Dharr: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: There is no one more truthful in speech, nor in fulfilling of promises, that sky has covered and the earth has carried, than Abu Dharr, the likeness of 'Eisa bin Mariam. So 'Umar bin Al-Khattab said, as if out of envy: So do you acknowledge that for him, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Yes, so acknowledge it.
