Narrated Usamah bin Zaid: I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) one night concerning some need, so the Prophet (ﷺ) came out while he was covering up something, and I did not know what it was. Once I had tended to my need, I said: 'What is this that you were covering up?' So he uncovered it, and I found it was Hasan and Husain [peace be upon them] upon his hips. So he said: 'These are my two sons, and the sons of my daughter. O Allah! Indeed, I love them, so love them, and love those who love them.'

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حميد،‏‏‏‏ قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الزَّمْعِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُسْلِمُ بْنُ أَبِي سَهْلٍ النَّبَّالُ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ طَرَقْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فِي بَعْضِ الْحَاجَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَخَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ مُشْتَمِلٌ عَلَى شَيْءٍ لَا أَدْرِي مَا هُوَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا فَرَغْتُ مِنْ حَاجَتِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ مَا هَذَا الَّذِي أَنْتَ مُشْتَمِلٌ عَلَيْهِ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَكَشَفَهُ فَإِذَا حَسَنٌ،‏‏‏‏ وَحُسَيْنٌ عَلَى وَرِكَيْهِ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَانِ ابْنَايَ وَابْنَا ابْنَتِيَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُحِبُّهُمَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَحِبَّهُمَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَحِبَّ مَنْ يُحِبُّهُمَا . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ.

اسامہ بن زید رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ میں ایک رات کسی ضرورت سے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نکلے تو آپ ایک ایسی چیز لپیٹے ہوئے تھے جسے میں نہیں جان پا رہا تھا کہ کیا ہے، پھر جب میں اپنی ضرورت سے فارغ ہوا تو میں نے عرض کیا: یہ کیا ہے جس کو آپ لپیٹے ہوئے ہیں؟ تو آپ نے اسے کھولا تو وہ حسن اور حسین رضی الله عنہما تھے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے کولہے سے چپکے ہوئے تھے، پھر آپ نے فرمایا: ”یہ دونوں میرے بیٹے اور میرے نواسے ہیں، اے اللہ! میں ان دونوں سے محبت کرتا ہوں، تو بھی ان سے محبت کر اور اس سے بھی محبت کر جو ان سے محبت کرے“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن غریب ہے۔

Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Nu'm: that a man from the people of Al-'Iraq asked Ibn 'Umar about the blood of a gnat that gets on the clothes. Ibn 'Umar said Look at this one, he asks about the blood of a gnat while they killed the son of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! And I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Indeed Al-Hasan and Al-Husain - they are my two sweet basils in the world.'

Narrated Salma: I entered upon Umm Salamah while she was crying, so I said: 'What causes you to cry?' She said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah - that is, in a dream - and there was was dirt on his head and his beard. so I said: What is wrong with you, O Messenger of Allah? He said: 'I just witnessed the killing of Al-Husain.'

Narrated Anas bin Malik: That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked: Which of the people of your house are most beloved to you? He said: Al-Hasan and Al-Husain. And he used to say to Fatimah: Call my two sons for me. And he would smell them and hug them.

Narrated Abu Bakrah: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ascended the Minbar and said: Indeed, this son of mine is a chief, Allah shall bring peace between two [tremendous] parties through his hands.

Narrated Buraidah: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was delivering a Khutbah to us when Al-Hasan and Al-Husain [peace be upon them] came, wearing red shirts, walking and falling down. So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) descended from the Minbar and carried them, and placed them in front of him. Then he said: 'Allah spoke the Truth: Indeed, your wealth and your children are a trial (64:15). I looked at these two children walking and falling down, and I could not bear patiently anymore until I interrupted my talk and picked them up.

Narrated Ya'la bin Murrah: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Husain is from me, and I am from Husain. Allah loves whoever loves Husain. Husain is a Sibt among the Asbat. [Asbat, plural of Sibt: A great tribe. Meaning, Al-Husain would have many offspring, such that they would become a great tribe. And this has indeed occurred. See Tuhfat Al-Ahwadhi (4/341).]
