Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet (ﷺ) stayed in Makkah for thirteen years - meaning while he was receiving Revelation - and he died when he was sixty-three years old.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ إِسْحَاق، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَكَثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَكَّةَ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَعْنِي يُوحَى إِلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَتُوُفِّيَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ سَنَةً . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَابِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَدَغْفَلِ بْنِ حَنْظَلَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا يَصِحُّ لِدَغْفَلٍ سَمَاعٌ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَا رُؤْيَةٌ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَحَدِيثُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ حَدِيثِ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ.

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مکہ میں تیرہ ( ۱۳ ) سال رہے یعنی آپ پر تیرہ سال تک وحی کی جاتی رہی اور آپ کی وفات ترسٹھ ( ۶۳ ) سال کی عمر میں ہوئی۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- ابن عباس رضی الله عنہما کی یہ حدیث عمرو بن دینار کی روایت سے حسن غریب ہے، ۲- اس باب میں عائشہ، انس اور دغفل بن حنظلہ رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- اور دغفل کا نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے نہ تو سماع صحیح ہے اور نہ ہی رؤیت۔

Narrated Jabir [bin 'Abdullah]: that he heard Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan giving a Khutbah, saying: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) died when he was sixty-three years old, and so did Abu Bakr and 'Umar, and I am sixty-three years old.

Narrated 'Abdullah: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: I free myself of the friendship of every Khalil, and if I were to take a Khalil then I would have taken Ibn Abi Quhafah as a Khalil. And indeed your companion is Allah's Khalil.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Shaqiq: I said to 'Aishah: 'Which of the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) were the most beloved to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)?' She said: 'Abu Bakr.' I said: 'Then who?' She said: 'Then Abu 'Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah.' He said: I said: 'Then who?'' He said: Then she was silent.

Narrated Abu Sa'eed: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Indeed the people of the higher levels, will be seen by those who are beneath them like the stars which appear far off in the sky. And indeed Abu Bakr and 'Umar are among them, and they have done well.
